Love the external corner finish Aubs! Would never have thought to do that. I tend to leave a one inch flap on it sticking past the corner then trim off next day when it’s dry. Will give your idea a go. Fab 😘

Nice work Aubrey. I’d assume the ceiling line is perfectly straight as I didn’t see you mark a straight line on the wall to hang the paper to. Tidy work .

It doesn’t need to be perfectly level. Think about it. Wallpaper is going over it.

Hi Aubrey, how do you hang the paper from the other direction to the corner, surely the sandpaper will pull the other previously applied paper. I have never seen that way of dealing with external corners. Thanks for Al your tips and advice.

Hi Glenn, just wrap the paper back around the other way and rub off just the same with the abrasive paper and wipe off the paste from the lining paper with a damp sponge. Just make sure you only use the abrasive paper up and down and all should be fine 😊

Good job. I’ve never used this stuff. Question: if it doesn’t eliminate all imperfections in the wall, why not just skim coat? Why do hangers use lining paper when you can perfect the substrate with joint compound and skim coat?

Lining paper is excellent at covering minor imperfections in a wall or ceiling surface. Anything worse will require a skim coat. We also apply a reinforced lining paper called non-woven on surfaces which are susceptible to movement causing cracks. Most of the labels on patterned wallpaper over here recommend the use of lining paper to provide a surface of even porosity which minimises the risk of many paperhanging defects. It is quite cheap and comes in single, double and quad rolls. Great if you have children for colouring and painting on 😃

I like both your reply and your own videos , Spencer, as I also find comments like the one you comment on unneccesarily critical and negative, but when I have commented to that effect myself the poster usually replies back to me with a nasty comment. I would like it if people on here, if they have to disagree with something, had the good grace to do it in a polite and respectful way, but hey - pigs might fly, and those with those huge egos usually suffer from something else that might be rather small. @@spencercolgan

Any advice on wallpapering horizontally, to two adjoining walls with interior corner ? Using paste the wall striped Wallpaper >

You could try the following Billy assuming it is standard width 53cm: 1, Measure 50cm down from the ceiling and do a pencil mark. 2. From this mark use a spirit level to draw a horizontal line across the wall. 3. Continue the line onto the adjacent wall. 4. Apply ready mixed (tub adhesive) to the first wall to a level just below the line. You can use a roller to do this. 5. Apply the wallpaper with the edge against the line. 6. Trim so it continues around the adjacent wall approximately 5mm. 7. Using a snap off blade knife and wallpaper smoothing tool or caulking tool trim the wallpaper along the ceiling to remove the overhang. 8. Continue applying the wallpaper to complete the first wall. 9. Do the same on the adjacent wall trimming each peace neatly at both ends. Make sure each piece goes over the 5mm overlap and trim neatly into the corner. 10. Wipe all surfaces with clean water and have a cup of tea. I hope that helps.😊

Don't have to crossline,it's a myth,can hang it vertical .and using ready mixed is far better,ordinary paste is not as good.
