It should be fine, 2 coats is always needed, unless the walls are still look in good condition and are getting painted in the same colour as before, light can show up all sorts of things, nothing is ever 100 percent perfect lol. Thankyou for watching.

As a decorator for over 40 years I’ve always hung lining paper that’s going to be painted vertically! I’ve found if you hang it horizontally and even fill the joints then the paint tends to ‘sit’ on the joint and will open it as it dries! I personally butt joint my paper thus avoiding having to fill any joints at all and that will save you time and money. Everyone to their own I suppose but it works for me!

@@Stacy-hc6gv You must always make sure you paste the paper evenly and especially right to the edges. Also let it soak for the appropriate time. Lastly make sure you size any absorbent surfaces before you apply the paper. This will ensure the joints won’t split. Good luck 👍🏻

Quick question …the contractors have put the lining paper up on one wall. I’ve noticed I can still see darker marks through the paper in certain light. It’s going to have 2 coats of white paint will that be enough to stop the marks from showing through? Thanks

My property is old and I’m having my walls painted. They took the old paper off and the some of the paint. I can see the marks through the lining paper and I’m now worried that they’ll still show after 2 coats of white paint. They’re professionals however I don’t like what I can see. Hopefully it won’t be too bad when it’s dry.

Hey Steve great video as always! I need some advice here please. Recently bought an old Victorian flat with tall walls same as in this video yay lol. It screems redecorating(as old buildings do) so we decided to do it ourselves. The bedroom has been lined wallpaper and painted over but I noticed the wallpaper is coming off in some corners of the room and has yellow spots, now I'm stuck whether to remove the whole wallpaper and re-wallpaper the whole room with lining paper or take the easy-bodge step to just glue it back with some wallpaper adhesive. I know removing the wallpaper will result in more work repairs and potentally ripping off the lath and plaster(oh god hopefully not lol) so, if bodging is my only option here - Can I use white silk emulsion on the existing lined wallpaper thats been painted over? or do I need to start from scratch by removing the old lined wallpaper? .....Many thanks!

Sometimes it is not worth taking of a good base for the sake of some of a few bits lifting, they can be stuck back by weting the paper and sticking with overlap adhesive. not sure about the yellow spots they might need stain blocking. what colour is on the lining paper now.
