Ever get a client that is totally unreasonable? Well here is how you overcome throne objections. You use logic and reasoning. If that doesn't work then leave the conversation!

So I watched this video this morning; and I ran into a customer JUST like her today. She wanted everything(rooms, runner rugs, sofa, loveseat) cleaned and protected; at about half 'the best price' I could give. And expected every spot and stain to come out. I ran! There was no way she would be pleased.

There's a book called Never split the difference you really want to read. You can get it on CD or the regular book. It's written by a FBI hostage negotiator named chris voss. A lot of it goes back and forth with dealing with customers . with negotiating everyday items. Dealing with hostile people. The book is literally a few dollars and it has already helped me out a hell of a lot more than I paid for it when it comes to these type of situations

Lots of domestic customers have no idea how much it costs to run a business. I'm surprised your tech didn't qualify the price with the customer before he started the work?

I would have simply asked her who did her carpets for $80.00? Then, tell her to call them next time. I would tell a customer like this that great work doesn't come cheap. Nothing you could have said was going to make her understand, so cut your losses. I used to work at Pizza Hut years ago and there was this family who would order at least 2-3 times a week. And EVERY SINGLE TIME they ordered there was some sort of major problem that they would demand a discount off of their order. The manager finally told them that they were not getting any further credits or discounts, so either start calling someone else or stop complaining!!! Guess what happened? They kept ordering AND quit complaining. It's never about what they say it is, it's just BS to get free stuff. If I'm truly unhappy with a company, I never call them again. I would simply ban a customer like that from any future work. Let them call the cheapest companies and see what they get as far as quality. It's just not worth the headaches!!!!

I always explain it like this: compare my prices and results with pro equipment, tech, and chemicals vs renting a rug dr/bissell machine with shelf chemicals and doing it yourself. In this case it's $245 for pro. Rental is about $40 a day, shelf chemicals another $20-$30, and x # of hours of customer labor. Say 2-4. What's your time worth, and what are the results worth. Basically if you want a half price job with halfway results, do it yourself and don't call me 👌😏

Good Evening Robert nice topic, that is always a difficult matter... Personally, maybe by mistake, I take any Client as a friend, and when they want to take advantage or try to "play dirty", I really get sad... Anyway, I think that you feel the same when you have to deal with a nice client before and "smart client" after... Say that, I hear that your guys work at commissions, I really would love to better understand "from your experience", if it better works with commission or hourly payment, or even mixes. Maybe you can make a video of it or you can advise me how to motivate the workers, here in Miami I work at an hourly rate but I notice a leak of enthusiasm in the Customer Service on the spot. Thank you

Hello John Thank you for your time, and I totally agree with you, I always work in my country "Italy" with just commission, and I love to be paid more when I do more and better, and I try to make the same here with my workers, but they don't want even listed, I know that an hourly rate is not stimulating and they don't make any effort to make a better job, so I try also to increase the motivation offering a mix of hourly and commission but nothing... But maybe is the Miami mentality, they prefer to be paid $15/hr. instead of getting 40%... Often I try to explain that "with pen and calculator on the hand" and even if they see that they will get more, they prefer hourly rate... I needed an advice on how is the better way to make the contract to the technician "independent contractor or employment contract with salary" ... Thank you

Thank you for the specification.... Yes, as you understand they quit for a couple of days slow and when there is to work, they have no enough motivation or energy to work 8 hours or more "as an owner I work up to 12 hours on the job" + at the office... but they are difficult to convince even with more money... The problem that we have with the Independent Contractor is that they make contact with the customers and some customer doesn't accept them, but they ask for a Working Compensation. Consider that we have Janitorial, Carpet, Moving and Water damage Restoration Company... How do you resolve this issue with the WC?

When new a bad review is definitely more harmful. Once you get to a certain point an occasional bad review mixed in with 80 or 100 good ones is actually a good thing. IT makes the reviews seem more real. A brand new company might have needed to give in and build up good reviews first. Because if you have 3 good ones and one bad one there's less chance you get hired. Once established see if you were fair and did a good job. If you didn't then make it right. IF you did then stand your ground. Great work. Crazy ass customers. High end apartment. Prob make good money themselves but they don't think a carpet cleaner which is a skilled trade to do a good job, with fairly expensive equipment, deserves to make a decent amount of money. Definitely irritating. If she wants an $80 job go rent a machine from grocery store and do it yourself. Frustrating for sure.

Having to over justify your pricing or job quality is a weak point in my view. Your job speaks for itself and industry standard is the price point everybody follows. That woman you are telling the story about will never admit she is wrong so there really is no point. It's part of the game some people want to play. Have been in business 40 years and you will run into them occasionally.
