How to Grow Star Fruit (Carambola) from Seed

Star fruits are easy to grow from seeds, and with proper care over several years, you can have a tree that bears the unique-looking fruit. Check out this video to find out how to extract the seeds, plant them, and grow them throughout the year in a warm area of the world. I’ll also show you what to do if the seedlings are damaged from cold weather and show their recovery.

Thanks for tips. I have 6 seeds planted about 4 weeks ago, So far almost all are sprouting I have one that popped up first. It's 3 inches high. Waiting for the other 4 to pop out. I see them peeping out. So hopefully all will be strong.

Oh no! I've been drying my seeds on a windowsill for about a week. I'm still going to try to germinate them, but I might have to get a new fruit! Thanks for the clear instructions!!

They may take a little longer to germinate, but they should still sprout. Good luck! 🍀

I planted few seeds , 4 sprouted quickly but the problem is the outer skin was still attached when they sprouted so prevented the seedling growing ! I carefully used a tweezer to remove the outer skin . What did I do wrong ???? Reply will be appreciated as I want to help others to grow that have sprouted with same problem . Thanks

You must really hate them lol that's literal torture. They love constant mist. And can deal with some cold but that can't be healthy long term fyi.
