I’ve just found your channel and working my way through your videos. Thank you. I’ve grown cucamelons for the first time this past year in sub tropical Gold Coast qld. I assumed the smaller fruits would be more sour. Glad to know it’s other way round. I love them any which way. I’m planting way more this spring 🥒

Just let one cucamelon drop on the ground and they’ll be back again next summer! I’ve got them all through my garden now!

Yes, they are super productive (invasive 😂) aren’t they. Becomes a perennial for me.

Since you're growing them in grow bags, I'd suggest carrying the entire bag indoors and let them overwinter indoors in a fairly cool spot instead of removing them from the bag. [I'm just theorizing, I've never grown them.] I have seeds for them and hope to plant them within the week. I'm glad to hear that they will grow in the shade. Good thing I ran out of time to plant today; I would've planted at a sunny spot where nothing grows well!

Great! I got a bunch growing in tony pots and have been trying to work out where best to grow them. I have a heavily netted area with plums tp keep the sheep out and there's a grey water pipe that empties there. Also a enormous 1920s rose bush that goes over the verandah roof EVERY year even though I prune it hard. That area has mesh and is close to where I'm going to put in a waterline.

When out hone was bought 4 years ago I noticed a vine would cone up every spring then I noticed there was little "watermelons " on them. With alittle research I found out what they were. I Live in a climate where it's very cold in winter and hot in summer they come back every year . I think it being in the ground and not a pot is the key

Another lovely video. Thank you so much. I popped some into a green papaya salad and they were really yum. I also used Armenian cucumber instead of green papaya😮, so not sure I could call it a green papaya salad, but the flavours worked so well together.

i tried to grow those this year ... im in south aus riverland .. maybe i got bad seed ..only two germinated then died .... didnt know u could grow them in the shade!.. i grow all heirloom veg and save my own seed and regrow ... this year for the second year running i have had sucess with market more and also redlands white cucumbers. no spraying needed as they seem very mildew resistant. i will try these again next year tho.

I've found them to be difficult sometimes too. I haven't done a trial so this may have just been luck, but everything that I put in full sun died at some point. However, the one I put in a semi shady spot is going gangbusters now! It gets only sun in the late day. It can't to try it. My growing zone is 10b, very hot and humid in South Florida.

Great video! I'm inspired to grow them. My 9 year old son is a cucumber fanatic but a bit uninterested in going to our land (which is separate from our home), so I'm hoping that I can entice him with snacking cucamelons! As they don't overwinter I'd love to know whether and how you save seeds from them... is there a colouration or size to look for when the seeds are viable?

I love growing cucamelon too! We’ve just moved and I had to propagate mine into a pot to bring with me. I love growing them from seed and they are super fun for the kids. May I ask how big your water tank is? I need to get a new one. Thank you!

I've planted seeds for them this year. I've tried in the past but my plants were damaged by powdery mildew. Hoping for better luck this year. Great video as always ❤

Get yellow sulphur. Maybe bunnings but definitely farm supplies or anything vineyard industry supplies. You blow the powder on the leaves and it kills are fungi and mildew. My dad used to drive around in a tractor with a giant blower that blew this powder on grapevines. They would go thru pallet fulls of the stuff yearly.
