Cucamelon From Seed to Pickles!🍈🍈 - How to Grow, Harvest and Make Pickled Cucamelons
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I will show how to grow a cucamelon plant from seed and share a recipe to make cucamelon pickles. I started these cucamelons indoors from seed in early spring and grew them outside in my garden all summer. I got a pretty nice harvest and decided to try making some cucamelon pickles. Kyooq - a Melon ❤ What a lovely little fruit and vine. I hear that it's prolific! I have sown only 4 seeds because I experimented with sowing them in fall. We live in a frost free winter climate. Out of 4 seeds only a single kyook had sprouted. Now 2 months later in the short days of December, it is thriving well even if not growing too quickly. I can't wait to see the growth in process further as days grow longer and warmer. Update will follow after my first fruits will form. M.m

Your grandson loves you so much! He's very adorable. We failed the first year we tried this. Last year, though, I chitted the seeds on a paper towel and put it in a plastic lid and set it on TOP of the grow light for warmth. The chitting worked so well I had too many! These plants are so slow! But man once they get going! We really like how you put this together, btw. Very well done! I took a bunch to work and about half liked them. One who didn't said it hurt his brain too much. Skin of a watermelon, size and shape of a grape but tastes like a lemon cucumber. He couldn't do it lol. We put grape leaves from our neighbor's yard in our Pickles this year. It's supposed to help keep your Pickles crisp because of the tannins. And Henderson is so great to keep eating them even though the first one almost made him cry. Wow!! Nice work. Cheers Jason and Colleen 🌱🌱

I'm not sure if anyone was very impressed with the pickles overall! Henderson is always a good sport and will try everything once - haha. The cucamelon does take a long time to get going, but it was a fun plant to have in the garden. I don't think it is going to make the list for my 2023 outdoor garden - so many other things to try! Happy Gardening
I just bought some seeds. I can't wait to pickle mine! Thank you

I grow insane amount of cucumbers. I think the trick is to keep the soil moist. I literally water everyday but I do make sure the soil dries before watering. But I tend to water more oft3n not as deep. The rain does the deep watering for me.
Such a nice, helpful video and adorable child! I am an artist and I share my painting demos and studio tours here. So much variety on KZread. Have a great day!

I'm figuring it was about 70-75 days. Thanks for stopping by my channel!
The cucamelon plants look like maybe they had to much miracle grow. And not enough water. Keep the soil moist. Let dry all the way out. hope this helps someone

Thanks for the tips!
That’s nice. Our cucamelon seedlings didnt survive the transplant with the cold and rainy spring 🫤 The one we bought didnt come up with anything.

Yes, they seem to be very fragile when it comes to cool weather. I had to move my plant indoors several times in the spring and didn't think they were going to amount to much. One plant produced enough for a large jar of pickles!
