Greetings from St. Vincent, My family been doing this cloning technique for yrs but thing is the trees grow more limbs and is more compact but will still get to the same height as a regular tree but will take longer time but the limbs are longer so it's easier to pick the fruits. Fun fact; St. Vincent & Jamaica were the first 2 countries in the Caribbean to get Breadfruit in 1793 when Captain Bligh brought them I think he stopped here first on that voyage so we're the first country to get the plant, the leaf was even on our first flag on gaining independence from England. The first tree was planted in our botanical gardens which are the oldest in the western hemisphere and there are a few huge trees that came from suckers from the 1st plant still thriving in the botanical gardens today. Jamaica and St.Vincent in my opinion eats the most by far in the Caribbean, Vincentians basically eat breadfruit as a side or main dish with any and everything they cook. I personally do not like breadfruit or breadnut tho but I'll eat some Jackfruit now and then my family curry breadnut and the breadnut flesh as was passed on from generations as we're Indo-Vincies. @jamaicanagriboss1
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching,yes now for your questions breadfruit is tricky tree to propagate if you set a100 root cuttings the chance of you losing a lot of your roots by them drying out is very high and may take a very long time about 6-8 months to germinate and next 3-4 months develop enough for sale but your friend seem to be taking the fresh sprouted sucks if that's the case you'll need to put them somewhere really cool I'll be a follow-up video on it

Yes thanks for watching good to know you find my video interesting ok now for your question you can cut down the tree at the base then paint at the top of the cut area with a tree killer of you choose, a systemic one will circulate the chemical to the reminding parts of the tree eventually killing it
@jamswagintl.59372 жыл бұрын
Great video but how long does it take to fruit from rooting and what kind of mix do you put it in for rooting?
@jamaicanagriboss1
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching,the mixture that I used was coconut peat but other mixture can be used like soil mix you by at the farm store,the tree will produce within 5-7years if conditions are right when the tree physically mature to handle the weight of the fruits,the one in this video was about 5 years old

I'm in Highgate st Mary,you???
Hi. I bought 2 breadfruit plants now and both have died. Can you tell me how can I be successful in getting a plant from seed?
You started off with sand bro??
Hello sir I followed with great interest your video: very informative. I have several bread trees behind my house the roots are invasive I would like to eliminate at least 2. Know how I can do it?
@jamaicanagriboss1
Жыл бұрын
Yes thanks for watching good to know you find my video interesting ok now for your question you can cut down the tree at the base then paint at the top of the cut area with a tree killer of you choose, a systemic one will circulate the chemical to the reminding parts of the tree eventually killing it
Great video but how long does it take to fruit from rooting and what kind of mix do you put it in for rooting?
@jamaicanagriboss1
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching,the mixture that I used was coconut peat but other mixture can be used like soil mix you by at the farm store,the tree will produce within 5-7years if conditions are right when the tree physically mature to handle the weight of the fruits,the one in this video was about 5 years old

Can this be done with other plants like jackfruit, mango, etc.?
@jamaicanagriboss1
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching,with breadfruit root cuttings is the best way to propagate because breadfruit don't have seeds that could potentially germinate like mangoes and other fruits, the best way to propagate other fruit tree may includes grafting air layering or planting by seed but with breadfruit it's a lot more harder to do any of the above
