    Excellent video!! I have used your tips plenty in my gas grill and we tried this exact recipe with Maple syrup but it was a tad on the sweet side (for us). Second go round we moved to melting 1/2 stick butter, brown sugar, and a couple tablespoons of honey instead and spread some on either side before the foil step and brought the sweetness down some but still sooo good. If you like them sweet by all means do that but we're happy and I have to give kudos to the one who helped me get it started. Good stuff, Thank you!

    Thank you, Coleman! My fiance and I made ribs on our small Weber gas grill over the July 4th weekend and used many of your tips. The ribs turned out AMAZING. We really liked your ideas of using mustard as a binder; using brown sugar in the boat; and adding a water pan to keep up the moisture. We had to closely monitor our temps on our tiny Weber Q2200 grill (even have to prop open the lid to keep temps at 250 degrees), but the ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious. Thank you for your enthusiasm and your thoughtful summary at video's end -- we watched your video several times as we began, then used that summary to check in on our steps as we continued. This is my first time applying my BBQ Wood Smoker Trailer 3-2-1 (3+2+1 = 6hrs), rib recipe on my Weber Spirit 2 gas grill; and your gas grill technique is PERFECT! You're correct on how gas grill temps "fluctuate." It's for this reason that I used my Weber iGrill 3 digital app-connected thermometer; and was able to monitor both the in-direct side of the grill and rib temperatures. Quick Note: I dry-rub seasoned my ribs overnight (frig) and got them to room temperature the following day and cooked them. The end result was a success! Thank you!

  • @GrillinandChillinwithColeman

    @GrillinandChillinwithColeman

    I have heard of this happening. Are you using a separate temp probe on the grill grates next to the ribs or just the one in the lid? The one in the lid will always show a higher temp than the temp actually is on the “cool” side of your grill. Could be as much as 75-100 degrees. I would also check the temp gauge in the lid fir accuracy. I have a video on my channel that will help with that.

  • @JohnS-um3lm

    @@GrillinandChillinwithColeman It’s a lid thermometer but I feel it was pretty accurate. The ribs themselves were really meaty, they were cooked and had showed signs of pulling back from the bones but they were just tough. What I learned was don’t buy the ribs from Costco, while not cheap they always are really meaty and it seems like it’s hard to get them to just fall off the bone.

    So, We just ate. The ribs flavor was amazing. I must have done something wrong, as the meat stuck to the bone. I use a Wolf Gas BBQ and it was reading 250F but i used a laser temp gun and it was 208 at the bars on the grill so i slightly turned it up to where the gauge read 275 thinking that was enough I did not want to over cook the ribs. This was my first try at this and had so much fun trying it. I will try again to figure out this puzzle. I think I just need more heat. Any tips are appreciated. Any day spent bbqing is a better day than at work.

    This was a great video, helped me greatly. Mine came out extremely tasty, juicy and moist. BUT mine definitely did not come out as “fall off the bone” as yours... still delicious lol ole lady ate more than I did, so I’ll count that as a win. Think my fatal flaw was my equipment. Not in the position to buy an expensive grill of any kind so I’m using a 4 burner char-broil. Not having a gauge to watch my cold side was a big mistake. With the 1 side burner cranked up as high as it would go, the gauge built into the grill lid, said it stayed at 250-270 the whole 6+ hours... but when that final dinner bell rang, I was heart broken to see the bones still had not started to poke through. (2 ribs on the skinny side started too but the rest hadn’t) I’m gonna give this another try, either after updating to a bigger better grill, or I might simply try adding 2+/- hours to my cook time. Maybe an extra hour before wrapping and an extra hour while wrapped...

    Thank you for watching my friend!!! Glad the Old Lady liked them!!! LOL, it's all about trial and error with your grill. The temp on the gauge in the lid will usually read higher than the temp really is on the "cold" side of your grill. You might just try lighting that second burner on low, that might give you the extra temp you need to get them tender. I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel.

    First time bbqing ribs, these turned out spectacular. Super tasty and tender. Only thing I would change next time is to do 1/4-1/3 as much brown sugar, since there’s sugar in the rub, the maple syrup, and the bbq sauce too. Regardless, it was great. Also, you have a great outdoor setup. Jealous.

    @@asAbsolute I have actually switched to using Monk Fruit instead. It has helped me lose 185 pounds since this video. Thanks for watching.
