    Open fire cooking is probably one of the most satisfying endeavors. I think a lot of people are genuinely scared of what is involved. The Weber kettle is probably one of the ways you can use this method most safely and compactly since the fire is contained in the bowl and you don’t increase the footprint of the original cooker. And it is portable! Thanks for demystifying this great cooking method using the Santa Maria. I am currently juggling a couple of ideas in terms of getting back into cooking with charcoal and wood after using a gas grill and a Weber Smokefire for a few years. Those are both great for convenience, but being a former owner and chef of a BBQ restaurant, I hanker for manual tools. I was considering a Weber Summit Kamado or plain old Kettle, open firepit. I think you have inspired me to go for a kettle and get a bunch of accessories with it, like this. Thank you very much!

    I agree, it is so enjoyable cooking over open fire! There are so many things you can do with the Santa Maria attachment I’m glad you are inspired to go back to a kettle.     Never had one of those . We looked at grocery store and they don’t have it. Also where do you get your sharp knives?

    You won’t find them in your typical grocery store. I have to buy them online….this one came from Snake River Farms. But Meat N’ Bone or 44 Farms, Porter Road, Wild Fork Farms or Creekstone Farms are other online options. As for knives, I get them on Amazon. Dexter Russell or Mercer brands. They sharpen easily and they are extremely affordable. Thanks for watching!
