Never give up. I am 83 and just finished an epoxy river, board room table, 3-piece 26 ft. long. clear resin on pecan wood rimed with walnut with walnut legs. I can so can you my friend
This really helped me with understanding the polishing and finishing part for the wood and the epoxy I was having a hard time figuring that out

Hanging on a wall would be awesome. Having seen the video of the $65,000 table before this one I would hate to see that gloss black get scratched. It would look awesome hung vertically in a room with a high ceiling. I was typing this right after you asked for ideas and it looks like you had the same idea. I don’t know what you would have to do to mount it to a wall but it looks great just leaning against the wall. What a gorgeous piece! The black is stunning.😊
Great job polishing that epoxy

Thanks - I’ve been unhappy with the glassyness of resin over my entire project, so have been considering doing a oil/glassy type of thing for my project. Good to know that it works out well. As for your question, I personally would only hang it on the wall if you had made the black a bit more translucent and fix a light strip to the back. Now that would be a show piece
That’s a piece of art
Wow great work and thanks for this video great help and tips
I think it would be great as a high bar table with some stools and chunky wood legs and fixed to a wall with some floating shelf brackets
I have 2 Huusk knives and just gave my Grandson one last weekend. Quality.
Epic job once again

Awesome piece. Just wondering why you didn't seal the wood with Rubio first and then buff out the epoxy? I would seem like that would have saved you the trouble of that painstaking tape up.

Spectacular Matt! Forgive me if this is redundant, but do you think I could use my RO 150 for the buffing portion as opposed to buying the Dewalt DA buffer?
Matt I’ve always rated your polishing skills .you and positive couple are on different levels .im actually at a level now where i can get it bang on clear high gloss shine but it does make me laugh when I see people sand up to 320 and throw a load of osmo or odies oil over some pigmented epoxy and call it a day lol 😂and then sell it 😮 But yh man that was well clear perfect job dude .huge breakfast bar I would say would look cool on that piece
Beautiful
Hey, I love this as a table. I saw the listing on eBay ended with reserve not met, which is crazy to me since it’s awesome. My husband and I just moved to a new house and I know exactly where I’d put it! Is it listed for sale elsewhere?

Thank you for your feedback!
If you sand to 5k grit, then use a 1500 cut polish, how doesn't that add more scratches being a more coarse grit? Also, I always thought the wool buffing pads were to remove any remaining polish?? Isn't the wool pad always the last step and the black, green, yellow come before it?
Epoxy is a constant state of "I made a huge mistake and should have known better",, I guess that's what experience is all about
@MattsWoodworks
Жыл бұрын
Totally, and trust me I definitely don’t want to use it in every project. I try to disperse my portfolio of work as best as I can :)
I like it a lot. If used as a coffee table the epoxy is bound to pick up scratches though the ceramic will help. How durable at avoiding scratches and how do you maintain once scratches start to appear?
@MattsWoodworks

@@MattsWoodworks Super thankful for the reply. Thanks so much. Do you recommend a wipe on Poly as a better alternative? Made one river with Odie's and another with Rubio's + ceramic coat. iI careful no scratches on either but if not...then scratches...Is a wipe-on poly a "better" alternative? KZread "rabbit holes" are not consistent but your videos seem to be well informed so curious on your opinion on this. Thanks for any helpful comments. Thanks from Singapore
What's the negative of hardness from the Shore D being less? I've never used that device and wondering if I should start.

Dang! Really? I’ll look into it!
Honestly I would have got that into multiple tables. Looks absolutely stunning though.
Do another panel and mount them both as front entrance doors, a left and a right opening pair.
Where do you get that durometer?
I have a question if you don’t mind . I sanded a resin table all the way to 5000, and buffed it with wool pads with meguinar 105 and mirror glaze 2 . It’s super shiny and beautiful but when the light hits the top there are minor scratches how can I fix it

I really want to work with Mappa Burl but it’s such a soft wood it would be an expensive mistake if I screwed it up. But I was told to go after pressure and learn from mistakes. Love your projects and love your attention to details. Black tail studios turned me on to your KZread channel. Keep up the amazing projects.
@MattsWoodworks
Жыл бұрын
@@sbpboyd thank you man! Yea it’s definitely soft, I think a good idea for this wood would be to to use a penetrating epoxy first to stabilize and harden it. It limits your stain color choice but if you’re using a clear or natural finish it will work great. I did it on a redwood table on my channel and it was hard as a rock!
Cut it in half for 2x coffee tables?

Table for suuuuure
I think this beautiful beautiful table would be wonderful as a kitchen bar oh how gorgeous it would be if you could have the bar stools the same the same color with the black resin oh my goodness that would that would really cost somebody's anyway that's
Either or. The wall art would do it way more justice and keep it from scratching.

its a shame that, not only did you make a resin table, but you used opaque resin which hid the most interesting part of the wood
@scottmulholland1329
5 ай бұрын
Personally I think that contrast you speak of - with the opaque black resin and figured wood is the best part of this overall piece. It not only promotes the sense or idea of a “River” of epoxy but the black color makes the various vanilla to cinnamon hues in the wood ‘pop’ even more. I’ve done epoxy River tables that have very little pigment added making them virtually transparent. I’ve also made opaque “river tables” like the one in this video. Every single table one builds is a small step in the learning process to meet the number 1 goal- to thoroughly please the paying customer. This table taught Matt a number of steps and I personally love that he shared that with us. If you want to pay Matt $8000 to make a more transparent River Table I’m sure he’d have that and the video for you tout suite! Hahaha
Give me your location, it would look better in my house 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Matt, do your due diligenece before offering to sponsor a product, it turns out that Huusk knives are a scam!! You better come out with another video warning your viewers of the scam unless you are part of it 😉
