this is what our grandfathers did every few days. there were no razors for home use so when you wanted a shave you went to a barber shop. it really was an experience, you met your friends and co workers in the barber shop you talked, gossiped and when you left you were looking your best. there is nothing better than a good straight razor shave.

I think it was a rural/urban thing. My maternal Grandma grew up on a farm during the depression. She talked about her dad being very meticulous and protective of his straight razor, which he kept all his life. I imagine guys living "in town" went to the barber more often.

Much of the stereotype revolves around the good ole country boy and it's very true that many are raised to say yes ma'am and no ma'am but the thing that seems to be going away is style. How a man should present himself seems to be thrown away here. The fact that you see men walking around town in shorts and boots isn't my idea of gentleman style lol

There is no reason whatsoever as to why I should be watching this, but I feel I'm being educated and I'm enjoying this throughoutly. Also, this man is the real MVP

Technique, practice, and a bit of decent kit :) With that being said - I asked this question on r/wicked_edge and the consensus was that most barbers do a shitty shitty job at shaving. I don't think you get that out of relaxation 😂 But luckily straight razors have expandable blades, that don't stick out that far. They aren't cut throat razors. So the cut would hurt and bleed but you wouldn't die... Luckily 😂

I'm 25 shaves once a week because I get no facial hair. I loved it when I got a straight razor shave for the first time. I want this guy to do my next shave. What a gent and master of shaving. He knows what he's dealing with.

I was in the area and actually had a chance to get a shave from George. AMAZING skill set, and great attention to detail (especially cleanliness). If you go, in addition to leaving a nice tip, bring him some quality cigars.

George Bruno actually has a channel that I’d highly recommend everyone check out.

Totally skilled barber! Love the way he maneuvers the blade. While the technique is top notch, the process of "ultimate shave" and other hygiene and presentation aspects can be vastly improved. If the patron is willing to pay high price for a comprehensive shave, then there are a few more things which need to be included: 1. Wash the face with lukewarm water using a soap-free face wash. This step gets rid of dirt, grime and sebum. 2. Use a gentle exfoliate to get rid of dead skin and also to lift the facial hairs. 3. Rinse and apply hot towel 4. Apply pre-shave oil 5. Apply hot lather by massaging 6. Apply hot towel on top of lather 7. Remove the towel and quickly relather 8. First pass shave with the grain 9. Apply hot towel and clean the residual lather 10. Repeat steps 4-7 11. Second pass shave across the grain 12. Close inspection and light lather touch-up for spot shaving 13. Dab the face with plain lukewarm water towel or napkin 14. Apply cold towel 15. Dab the face to remove excess water and dab an antiseptic like witch hazel 16. Apply alcohol-free after-shave moisturizer and massage the face 17. Clean up, wake your client up and comb his hair 18. Don't forget to take the money ;-)

I've just recently got into DE razors (wet shaving). I did not think shaving could be this enjoyable. This barber is a true master of his profession. Great shave!

I must have watched this a dozen times. So relaxing.

I’ve been to barber shops from Alaska to NYC, Florida and every place in between but I’ve never seen someone give a shave like this. George you’re a true professional.

The relaxing sounds in this video never get old.

Hot shaves are probably the most relaxing and enjoyable thing i can think of getting. Even watching them gives me that calming feeling.

I've watched this video a number of times now and enjoy it each and every time. The video is very relaxing and informative as well. George, I like your easy going relaxed delivery. I had somewhat of a long day at work and watching this video helped me to chill out.
