I have a problem, I bought Carefresh bedding because it was recommended for chinchillas, when I was doing more research there where cases of it being toxic. But at the same time other studies are saying it’s safe for chinchillas. Do you have any idea If it’s safe?

Hi!! I’m looking for advice. I was gonna adopt one chinchilla, however if a chinchilla is not in a pair will it die or is it okay to own just one. I read that it’s okay to have one but two is ideal. I’m just looking for some guidance and advice!!!

Hey! So I got two chinchillas in 2018. They were brothers. Yesterday one of them died and I don’t know how to keep the other happy. I’ve been letting him out for playtime twice a day and just being down here but is that enough?

HII!! I love your vids btw! But I have a few questions, the first one is is it ok to have a loud a.c near your chinchilla cage, idk if it's too loud or not for them and it's my only source of cooling down the room. My second question is I know a chinchillas are really loud at night, so do your recommend having your chinchilla cage in your room? I wouldnt reccomend having the ac right on them. Mine is on the opposite side of the room. If its on the opposite side of the room it also wont seem as loud. In my experience Chinchillas themselves arent loud its more of the wheel. I have mine in my room I have never woken up because of the noise. I do have selective hearing so i am able to ignore her whilst being abe to here if the dog is whining cuz she needs to pee. If you think you can sleep through the noise of the wheel it should be fine.

@@ri5551 yeah 1 isnt healthy in general. 4 is simply excesive. Id say a bath every 2 days is pretty good

im getting a chinchilla and im naming it steve and nothing can stopp me. I COMING STEVE

It would be really cool to have a Chinchilla. However I have two medium sized dogs and one of them can get pretty rough. I don’t know if dogs and chinchillas are able to get along. So I doubt it would be a good idea to get a chin when I’ve got dogs.

how long should they stay in the dust bath? also do you lightly grab them out, or wait for them to just leave?

I have a question about having two Chinnies, I’m planning on getting a friend for my baby and I have been wondering this for a while but for the food would you give double the food for the chinchillas in the cage idk if this makes sense but I just want to know what I do about food for my baby’s please write a reply if you understand what I’m talking about and have an answer for me thanks

Yeah, if you have two Chinchillas you should make sure they have access to double the food you'd give to a single chinchilla. Make sure you're monitoring both of their weights to ensure that one isn't bullying the other out of food and hoarding the food for themselves, in that case you'd notice that one chinchilla is gaining weight and the other might be getting thinner or not growing (not sure how young your chinchillas are, don't forget to make sure you introduce them slowly and properly so they don't fight for dominance and territory). If that happens you might have to give them two separate spaces (but close to each other - like those cages with an up-stairs and a down-stairs but closed off) and separate food, then just have them play together supervised until they become more bonded and can share better.

Because they have dust baths are chinchillas quite messy to have as pets? And could you have them with other animals like cats?

I have a question do you have to use blue cloud dust or can you just you a regular dust like the one by the brand kaytee

The one kaytee sells is blue cloud dust just pooer in quality. Mine is a rescue and came with kayette dust so I'm using it till it runs out but its the same thing just different quality.

Yes I recommend. They’re so outgoing and energetic but high maintenance, I just got one and I learned that they need a lot of attention so do your research and enjoy your chin! 😊

@@TheChinchillaNotebook thank you! one more question.. i let my chin out of her cage for the first time last night since i got her, (which was one week ago) and her previous owner of five years says she let Kibbles (the chinchilla) out to play daily and she loves it. so i opened her cage and she seemed determined last night to jump out, so i allowed her to since she has appeared to be getting a bit used to me and it seemed like a big step for her. she did what i expected-- ran and hopped around, climbed and smelled things, etc. she looked a little silly to be honest but appeared to enjoy herself. but when i put her back in the cage she pressed her body and face into the cage door and stared at me, almost like she was sad, then layed on her side for a while. i turned on my fan assuming she might have been a bit hot and exhausted from the exercise, and it helped because she got back up and seemed normal and cooled down, but then hid under her blankets and stayed there for a while. she has seemed angry at me ever since. is it stress of a new environment or do you think she didn't like being let out.. it just made me worried and you seem experienced with chins. reply when you can, if you have any answers or suggestions! sorry for the long comment. love your videos. :)

I order from a website so it doesn’t come in a container but it’s just blue cloud dust. You can use the oxbow brand if you like or All Living Things. I order it in bulk off AZ Chinchillas💕

I let my chin out all the time on my carpet and in my year of having her she has never peed on the carpet. What u can do is litter train yours so that u can have a piece of fleece during playtime for it to go when it needs to pee but I personally never experienced mine peeing on the carpet.
