@@mikesunboxing Got separate keys from Powershell and VBS script methods. Windows 10 Home Single Language, came with the laptop. Activation - Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account. I know it is digitally activated but i am curious, why the separate keys.

The script worked a desktop, line of code worked on a laptop. Downside is unless your on Win 11 it really wont mater after October 2025. Thanks it helped for now.

Hey Mike, I have an OEM Windows 10 on my PC. I installed the "ShowKeyPlus" software, and it does not give me my OEM key, but there is an INSTALLED KEY option that gives me a 25-digit key that includes my partial product ID that I get from the slmgr -dli command. That 25-digit INSTALLED KEY is different from the 25-digit key that I get from the visual basic script from this video. Which of the two is my license key? Thanks for your helpful vids!

When you run the prog with your laptop/Desktop, do you get 24 or 25 characters as a result? About the "Chars" string of alphanumeric characters in the prog, is there any reason why it doesn't include all the letters and numbers in it? I saw some letters like A, L, O, and numbers like 0 not part of the string and they don't show up in the prog result. The problem I'm having is I have two PCs, both were upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7.. I've since sold one of the PCs but have no way of knowing which Product Key sticker on the disks is for which PC (my one or the one I sold). The productkey.vbs method shows me a Product Key, but it doesn't match either of the keys on the official Windows 7 stickers.

sometimes the original key entered is a oem or factory key and won't re activate if anything has changed or the key has been blocked due to overuse

it the install was slipstreamed on the machine often the code can be different, they are a few installation techniques that trip up this method of key finding

I tried it on my own system and a completely different system PC I bought on eBay which had Windows 10 installed by previous owner. In both cases I got *precisely* the same license key from this - which definitely makes me say Hmmmmmm about this method!

Yes that is the point of the key code it is locked to the hardware. If that remains the same you can re use it when reinstalling windows

Same for me, but my product key wasn't registered under other service, laptop just came with it. I'm trying to use my key on my laptop to get windows 10 on a new SSD on my desktop. Is this possible? Typed it in (the script worked) but it says "This product key didn't work. Please check it and try again." when I tried to type it into my desktop booting with the windows 10 ISO disc. sorry to hear that. it usually works okay, but there is the odd occasion if the system was installed using a VLK or bulk key or any type of KMS system it won't work correctly as those type of keys should not be used outside of the organisation they were allocated to

sometimes sellers will use a phony server to activate and a bulk code so they can't update unless via a KMS server

No luck here. Ran the vbs code and it just says BBBB-BBBB-BBBB-BBBB. My copy of W10 Pro is activated with a retail digital license tied to my account.

@@mikesunboxing So apparently with the digital licenses, you just need to login with your Microsoft e-mail and swap out the PC under Devices for the Pro license to carry over, looks like they don't do keys, which makes sense.

Mike i have a friend who is in the process of buying a desktop parts, he's normally a laptop guy so is new to desktops. so he will be using Media Creation Tool to make a copy of his Windows for his desktop, now I asked him if he has his licence key under his laptop "it doesn't have it", a bit later he'll be checking if its in the box. so I wanted to see if he could easily retrieve it using the vbs script. so I tried it on my own desktop. I have my license key and when I used that script it shows a completely different key? also looking through people's messages sent to you, one guy says he used Aida64 to which I have and even that shows another different key "not even the same as the one using this vbs script"?? what is going on mate. I don't want to be giving my friend wrong info. PLEASE HELP Thanks yeah had a look on their site and couldn't find win10 keys, only win8.1 pro & win7?

the keys are a bit hit and miss and to be totally honest for me personally it is much quicker and more reliable to grab a new over at premiumcdkeys.com, we have worked with them for a few years now and have bought tons of keys from them for less than £5, so this is what i would probably do so as not to end up deactivating the laptop key if it is still going to be used or sold on

had a look on the site and couldn't find any windows 10 keys, only had windows 8.1 pro & windows 7 keys mate??

the second one worked for me
