Still works in 2020, was able to turn on my nephew's 1st Gen Xbox one with this method; Xbox would turn off by itself every time, even after unplugging the power supply for 10 seconds; tried this method and got it on the first try! (I turned the Xbox one then off right away and it turned on by itself and stayed on!)

Johnny Solorio Once I watched the video closely it took me about 5 minutes but I had been trying over and over. You can kind of hear it if you put your ear close to it while you do it.

Ok, so i opened my Xbox and stated playing with the flexi cables upfront and eventually it turn on. I did a factory reset and turn off instant on. It’s working ok for now. This happened on 2 of my Xbox after power went out.

yeah this was before we were able to buy bricks so I recommend you get a new one anyway lol. but I'm glad I helped as well

Hey, just tried it but the xbox light won't stay on long enough after I press it the second time. It makes the turning off noise then it's like the power to the system is cut off, because it won't finish the ring and light turns off.

Also before trying this i completely unplugged the brick until there was no light on it at all.(light stayed on for a bit even though no power was going to it). plugged it back in and tried what this vid said and it worked 2nd time round

Unfortunately it didn't workout on my XB1 tho :(

I found a fix as well. If your power brick is not the problem it may be your internal fan. I just used a blow dryer on the cooling setting to cool the inside of the Xbox One and it worked for me!

Had the same issue, though I gave the top of the console where the fan is a light tap and it worked straight away. May be an issue with the fan maybe dust stopping it or out of balance not sure.

It over heated mine did that and it needed new thermal paste

My gf’s goes off after 3 seconds. We were using it fine a few months ago but after we stopped we tried to turn it on recently and it goes right off. Tried different outlets and power cords. It’s bs because she basically rarely used it.

If anyone needs help with this currently just power the Xbox on and before it shuts off just hard reset it and blow dry the fan a bit and it will work

Thanks Kid, I am going to have legendary status with my nephew now LOL His has been like this for months now and my sister would not pay to get it fixed as she said he never looks after his gear (which is true but he was innocent this time) I told him to bring it up to me and I would have a look at it. When he did bring it up and left it with me the first thing I did was get on KZread. Your video was the first one that popped up when I typed in "Xbox one turning off" I could not believe it worked first go!!! As soon as I heard the whirring stop I just held in the button for a good while and it seemed to confuse the power supply or whatever the problem is and it resets itself. Great video and one that will deff help Xbox one users get back online again so thanks again

My brother has the problem,we thought it was possesed because the power box was still glowing orange when it wasnt even plugged in. Turns out it just had some juice still in it. Ill try this in the morning Hope it works.

alright so what i got from this: 1. I keep trying even though i know it won't turn on 2. Turn the lights on 3. Stare at the eject button after pressing and holding on the power button until it turns off 4. Hesitate and consider life goals 5. Press power button again and tada! okay! imma try it sec.... . . . . .. .. ... ...... didn't work

What did he do???

I got mine to work by just taking off the side of the xbox (first part you can remove where the controller connecting button is) and it was full with dust, had to scrape it off with a knife. I didn’t bother opening up the rest of the Xbox as that solved the problem and it could start again. Although would like to see if there is more dust in the xbox by opening up the rest but don’t want to break anything 😅 anyway it works again

WORKS LIKE A CHARM

From the research I found, this error is due to a faulty update. That's why some people had it happen on day one and some people had it happen a few days ago. Essentially the boot wasn't written correctly. This technique only works if your system failed at a point where a fix like this is possible, it's doesn't work everytime. from what I understand it's the instant on that causes the problems. The real crap is it's a software load issue with Microsoft but they'll still charge you $115 to fix it. THEY BROKE YOUR XBOX BUT ARE CHARGING YOU TO FIX IT!!! lovely huh?

Don't get your hopes up...Ive had to replace my Xbone twice with MS and have the same issue now with the latest...they may tell you its brand new but I was always told it could be brand new or refurbished....the two I received that eventually screwed up again were both refurbs....it's an absolute joke...the should either fix it for free or actually send out a new box once they get yours and realize it is broken. Your post was one month ago so Id like to know what you received...hoped it worked out for you.

I fixed mine, I kept trying to hold the power button on for 30 ish seconds, but I think the problem was the top USB maybe the connectors are grounding so make sure you check the USB and that it isn't broken from someone smashing a USB in there.

Friken weird af.... Once my Xbox has been on for like 10+ mins it's fine all day ... Once it's off and gets cold it's hell getting it back on.. sometimes takes over 20 mins turning it on and off.... Unless I take blow-dryer to it now lmao
