How To Get Rid Of Headaches

Not all treatment work the same for everyone, which is why it may be worth your while to investigate a variety of therapies. Some of these treatments may seem odd, but can actually provide fast relief.
Herbs To Try
Since the beginning of time, People from around the world have been using herbs to treat headaches. A great example of this is Rhodiola. Rhodiola is incredibly helpful for someone with a tension headache because it increases levels of serotonin. This is so important when dealing with headaches and it also makes you feel great. Also, you should try a combination of feverfew and ginger helped to relieve migraine pain. Some people this by chewing on raw ginger which is said to give you instant relief. Chamomile tea is another option, especially for the relief of tension headaches. However, I have heard only pure chamomile tea bags appear to work with this remedy. Another is Coriander seed tea. It is known to have many anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. Something to note though, you need to let the coriander seeds steep for about 10 minutes before consuming and try not to add anything to it like citrus or any sweeteners. This could interfere with their effectiveness.

Massage For Headaches
Applying pressure and massaging your headaches seems to a great place to start to relieve pain.* You can do this by applying pressure to your head with a headband or bandana which can help quickly reduce your headache pain. This works because pressure can help reduce blood flow to your scalp, which ultimately means less blood flow to the pounding blood vessels in your head.
You can also achieve similar results by Gently try massaging your temples, neck, and scalp may help you relieve a tension headache. (do a demonstration here)
if tension is causing the pain, consider performing stretches designed for headaches, (do a demonstration here)
Salt & Warm Water?
Heres another one, Did you know that soaking your feet in warm water is an old remedy that actually works? The idea is to draw blood to the lower extremities to reduce blood vessel pressure in the head. You can do this yourself by Filling a tub with hot water and adding some magnesium salts or even mustard powder to give it an extra kick. Then Soak your feet for about 30 minutes and finish with a towel dry. Who knew that one way to cure your headache was through your feet?
What About Water?
As I mentioned earlier Headache pain may be derived from swollen blood vessels. One quick remedy is to drink coffee. Surprising I know, but coffee can help constrict the blood vessels leading to your head, helping to relieve pain. Don’t like coffee? You can try ginger tea or coriander seed tea instead as I mentioned before.
Which Essential Oils?
Although I'm not exactly an expert on Essential oils, I do know that they carry biologically active volatile compounds of flowers and plants in a highly concentrated form and that these compounds appear to help with headaches. There are different herbs that are said to work for different types of headaches. For example, my patients have told me that peppermint works best for tension headaches (especially rubbing a drop into the area which hurts), and that peppermint and basil is the best combination for migraines. I've also heard that rosemary is great for general headache pain.
Biofeedback
Learning how to understand your body so you know how to respond naturally to headache pain works great too. This is called Biofeedback and it is performed by using Electronic sensors track your body’s primary functions such as temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and muscle tension. The Data gathered is then fed back to the patient in the form of computer images or sounds. These images or sounds are ultimately meant to teach you how to prevent headaches from occurring by learning to understand and control what your body is telling you. For example, if you see you have a high heart rate and you see that on the screen and you then you might try to slow down your breathing. Researchers say headache therapies like biofeedback may end up being more cost-effective than purchasing prescription medication over time.
Exercises & Yoga
Furthermore, regular exercise can reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches and migraines. This is because when you exercise, your body releases endorphins, which are the body's natural painkillers. It also gets the blood flowing which is really important. Consider cycling, gentle running, swimming or even fast walking to reduce pain. Even a quick cardio workout may be enough to halt your headache from progressing, this is because it triggers the release of pain-reducing neurotransmitters.
Similarly, if you get migraines you may want to consider trying yoga! by combining breathing exercises with physical poses, and meditation you may feel more relaxed and reduce muscular tension in the body.
