    we no longer have breakfast cereals, biscuits, crisps, sodas ( fizzy drinks ) , TV dinners, and anything else which is ultra processed in our house, apart from very occasional treats. The house is full of vegetables, grass fed meat, fish and salads. When the crap is not in the cardboard / larder you cant eat it. Our of sight out of mind. My 3 year old son eats olives , avacados , cucumbers and chicken breast as his go to food. Not a happy meal in sight.

    I have stage 4 ovarian cancer and so far 12 rounds of chemo. My days would began with bread, baked beans, cereals etc and I would just go back to sleep most hours of the day cos I was just tired. I wasn't feeding my cells their blueprint but then I changed the beginning of my days with eating whole foods. For three months now I start my days of with baked sweet potatoes, yams, Steamed greens and two eggs, fruits. As long as I gave my body that startup in the morning and during the day I would eat brown rice or peanut butter wheat sandwhichs. I and everyone around me saw a drastic change. I had energy, I was cooking, sweeping and mopping the house, my muscles grew and I put on 7kg and my oncologist says I'm doing well for a stage 4 person. Another thing too is my accites. From being drained 8 litres of abdominal fluid every 3 weeks to now only 400ml every two weeks.

    @@forgetful3360Great - have you eaten like this all your life? Do you exercise as well? Unfortunately too many people eat processed carbs from a young age & grow up not knowing any better, as well as not being that active. As I did, although I was an active child as sports was encouraged luckily, plus my Dad loved his Coca Cola, & I grew up drinking sugary squashes as well. I am paying for it now, as a type 2 diabetic, but doing my best to rectify my poor eating habits & now only mostly unprocessed foods - unfortunately even unprocessed carbs, like potatoes, brown rice, sourdough bread, oats etc spike my blood sugars badly. Maybe I will get to a point when I am exercising more, I will eat some healthy unprocessed carbs again.

I sometimes have a blip at weekend.but look forward to getting back on track because I feel so much better. People say organic is expensive but it’s cheaper than filling my shopping basket with rubbish so it doesn’t work out any more and tastes better. My mom would rather take 7 medications to manage her high blood pressure, high cholesterol and nerve issues from diabetes and anxiety. All with terrible side effects. I watch her eat sugary food and it's not just 1 piece of cake, it's 3. It's not just 1 glass of juice, it's downing 2. Then she complains about how her blood sugar is high. I really don't understand it. How can people not see food as medicine or poison? You wouldn't take 8 pills of your medication all at once so why would you eat 10 cookies? It's time for people to stop regarding binge eating as harmless fun. People are more and more aware of the gimmicks used to make specific foods addictive yet they don't care about their health enough. I'm not referring to people who have limited income and have to settle for cheap junk food but people who have options to eat healthy.

    I think sometimes plain talking with no gimmicks also work. Just depends on the mental health status of the individual personal mind. Over in the USA is a wonderful fungus & nutrionalist specialist called "Know The Cause" hosted by Dan Kaufman. His worded graphics are brill & he's reading them as you read them so you feel very intimately involved "to change". Research on him. You'll not be disappointed. What have that works in the past year, removing all seed oils from my diet. A fade that's catching on but one of the best move you can make. Once you head down this road almost every food product known to man is eliminated and all your left with are natural foods. No more fade diets.

Also started having mini fasts and leaving 15 hours between eating . Lots of water ! The comparison about people eating 500 more calories a day when eating the equivalent nutritionist (calories, fat, protein, fiber...) per day is due to 3 reasons.. 1.) as you say here, the highly addictiveness of the chemicals they intentionally use 2.) The taste can often be the reason but this is what was an a-ha for me and what I am realizing is completely true 3.) Because your cravings also come from malnutrition. When deprived, our body is craving nutrients which make you eat more, never satisfied. When you eat nutritious food, your body is satiated with ACTUAL nutrients. I am convinced that a large number of us might be diagnosed with some level of "malnutrition". That would be an interesting topic to cover. While i was aware as this kind of food f'd up my childhood, it shocked me to discover out how few days of eating healthy vs crap can impact the microbiome and your mental health. I think i discovered that on your channel:)

    Medicine should take personalisation into account as each of our fingerprints are different so are each of our bodies. The best thing we can do is look at ourselves and make a little change for the better and this can have a snowball affect. After many years of using bad habits to ease my stress, I turned around my mindset and instead of thinking about things and procrastinating, I just started doing. Going for a walk in the woods. Sunshine on my skin. Little things.

I know it was the tea as a day after I stopped drinking it these health issues started to go away. I personally, will never drink tea or coffee again. There is very little information about tea. Tea companies seem to get over looked but there product is highly toxic.

    Invest into a whole food diet and the quality of your life changes forever. Its tough at 1st , because sourcing the food often is a challenge, as is knowing how to cook it. We also wait 4 hours after waking before breakfast and eat dinner before 530pm every day, with no food after that. IF ( intermittment fasting ) can help regulate your relationship with insulin, a key to metabolic health.

    I recently bought an air fryer. It is so easy to dehydrate fruit and veggies to snack on without buying to ultra processed foods. Fresh pineapple turns into candy, chicken wings don't need oil or flour to get them crispy. Best way to preserve food and stay on a real food plan, Fast food? Nothing is faster to eat then a fresh piece of fruit or a veggie.

  • @MrOBalert

    Dehydrated fruit, high sugar, with a tendency to eat more because volume is reduced, so highly calorie dense. Chicken wings are not high quality protein, lots of fat under the skill even when cooked in a air fryer. No criticism, but the air fryer doesn't make food healthy. You need to start with healthy food... just my option, and I only responsed because I've just bought an air fryer to cook high protein meat/fush quickly without firing up a big double oven every meal. Keep well.

    @@MrOBalert so what type of meat do you recommend for better quality meat that's better cooked in an air fryer? As for dehydrated fruit or veggies, I'm choosing fresh fruit and veggies, instead of processed, canned or added into pre made/precooked frozen dinners, with all the added chemicals. So if fresh dehydrated is not good , what do YOU recommend?

  • @MrOBalert

    @MrOBalert

    @bluebonbon22 I don't think I criticised fresh fruit or vegetables. I simply pointed out that turning fruit into "candy" wasn't the best food to eat, and "wings" with or without oil isn't high quality protein. Clearly, "a little bit of what you fancy does no harm". But, you really have your own answer, as you said... "fresh fruit and veggies", not candy (just lots of sugar), not dehydrated veggie crisps (just lots of carbohydrates), but fresh produce, and possibly not cooked in a fryer but in a microwave? I personally follow a very low carb and extremely low sugar diet. I wish you well on your real food plan and continued enjoyment using your air fryer. I'll continue to use mine for mostly roasting fresh meat and fish (I mostly microwave fish). Kind regards.
