How To Get Rid of Creeping Charlie with RESULTS!! // DIY Lawn Care

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Today I show you how to get rid of creeping charlie with results that only took a few days! I have been battling creeping charlie or similar weeds like ground ivy and wild violets in my lawn for some time now. As the name suggests, they have started to creep more and more into the kentucky bluegrass turf of my lawn. I used tzone to spray the creeping charlie and even the next day I noticed browning and curling. 6 days later the results have been fantastic and I show you those results here in this video.

Awesome, my yard looks like your neighbors yard and I have tried some products to get rid of this ivy, but those weeds just laughed at me. I have now gone as far as killing my whole lawn, tilled it added lime and reseed all of it. My side yard looks the same but I will try this method that suggested. Thank you for this video. Thank you..

Thanks for posting. That Spectracide Weed Stop bottle is the exact kind I tried this spring on my creeping charlie with some results, but it only killed some 50% of it and suppressed the rest which eventually came back. I’ve been looking for a good selective herbicide at a reasonable price to decimate this creep altogether. I’ll spend $34 on this instead of $5 to rid my lawn of this stuff once and for all!

Great video, and a great product! It is my go to in my cool season lawn. At the end you mentioned a second temperature dependent application. That is the other reason I love Tzone. It does not lose efficacy at the same temps other products do and can be used at much lower temps.

This product works as Ryan described. I have tried the big box garden hose sprays and it did very little to control the creaping Charlie and other weeds. I did a one gallon spray and followed up a few days later with a spot sprayer and all my weeds are gone. Hooked my neighbor up with it as well. Paid $38 for 16 oz of the product which makes over 10 gallons which is considerably cheaper than store bought sprays.

Hey... fellow Iowan here. (Cedar Rapids)... I bought this product on your recommendation. I've been fighting wild violets in my front yard for years. I've spent hours and hours digging them out by hand. I've tried lots of stuff, nothing has ever worked. I also have a creeping charlie infestation in my backyard. Yesterday I got the TZone in the mail and sprayed the weeds and today they are already starting to wilt. Fingers crossed that this is the answer to my prayers. Those little purple flowers are very pretty... but I can't help but hate them with a passion. That is a stubborn plant.

@@daimyo2k hey. I used it and it works! I've spot treated my whole yard twice now (waited a month between treatments) and while there's still a few left it has mostly eradicated my violets and creeping Charlie. It also kills dandelions and other various weeds. Not very effective on clover but it does knock it back a bit.

I put this down back at the beginning of September and saw the same results in a few days. This is coming from my neighbor's yard, as they don't really do any sort of maintenance other than mowing. What I did see is the grass in the spray area also turned brown after about a week. I kept to the lower number of 1.2 oz., but may have sprayed too long in one spot. As this was pretty thick in some areas, I wonder if the grass underneath was already damaged, or if the root system of the weed was tied into the roots of the grass? Any thoughts on this? Did you see any browning or damage to the surrounding healthy lawn? I also suspect that I have Poa Annua in the same areas or nearby, wondering if this also attacked that stuff and the browning was that weed dying. Thanks for the great tips! Either way, I got rid of this terrible weed and am on my way to a healthy back yard!

Hose end is not accurate enough to do this correctly. You will need something you can trust sprays consistently or damage could be done to the grass you want to keep

Hey Ryan , have the same problem with ground ivy and have read that insufficient drainage is a major culprit to the resurgence one you feel you eradicate it. I have storm drainage ditch right behind backyard which is usually more often than not containing water. Have not aerated in years, but wasn't sure if that may contributing factor in return after application also .

That’s interesting bcz mine grew only were water sticks around a but after a storm only. In the neighbors house he only got it right under neath the rain gutters drainage pipe. I think 🤔 you’re absolutely right about this one. Over watered areas 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

From what I have read elsewhere, fall is the best time to kill it off. Spring beats it down for the season but it will grow back. About to find out!

Here's a tip for consistent spraying: I have a huge square yard, so I put down PVC pipes to create "rows" so I could color inside the lines without missing any spots and/or overlapping and giving any areas a double-dose. You don't need a lot PVC (or 2x4s or whatever you have handy). Just enough to create two lines. Then you leap-frog one "line" over the other one to create new row. I made the rows wide enough that I could walk in the middle and spray back and forth up to the lines. Note: First time I made the rows using a couple of garden hoses, but it's hard to draw straight lines with something flexible unless you have someone on the other end pulling it taut each time. Use something more rigid. I had a bunch of PVC on hand, so I went with that.

Dude, just add a bit of blue dye to your mix -- then you can clearly see where you've sprayed.

That sounds a bit extreme.. You can just do your best and walk in a straight line. I can't imagine doing something like you suggest on a big yard, and it's pointless on a small one. Maybe it's a good way to practice

This is great for places that can still use these products. We need a lawn care pro to help the areas (a lot of Canada) where we can’t use herbicides and pesticides anymore. Someone stands to make a fortune if they can figure out a more natural way to get rid of Creeping Charlie.
