I started my channel in 2022 and did it for 6 month and then stopped for almost a year and started back this past September and I have been watching your videos since 2022 and doing my best implementing your advice and it has worked. I have a gaming channel and I have changed the theme of the game 4 times trying to find that I can actually enjoy long term and it took a year and a half to do that. I went from Hunt showdown to Star Wars Battlefront 2 to Battlefield 2048 then No Mans Sky and now Formula 1 sim racing which is my true enjoyment and passion and I am also good at it.

I've actually been doing this on some of my best performing videos in the past few months and it has made them perform even better. Just commenting to confirm this works 🙂 and for the algorithm Marcus. Great vid, i'm sure this will help a lot of creators!

Sorry maybe is a dumb question, but i don't get it, if you are let's say telling a story, in my case i have an educationla channel, if i see the dip as he showed and than i cut out from the video... ho can the new video will be smooth on those particular moments of the clip, as i have taken out a part of it? How do i make it flow naturally then? Will apprecietr any feedback ❤

@@RC29972 Hey no worries that's actually a great question! Kind of complicated answer but I'll try my best. I think you have to use some discretion where to use this tactic or not. If there is a severe dip then cutting out a whole section might be worth it. However, if it interrupts with the storytelling and cutting it would ruin the flow of the video then it is probably not worth it IMO. If you can cut a small part of the dip and not have it effect the flow of the video or that particular section then it is likely worth it. As I've started doing this I've also become more mindful in my editing, meaning crafting content that could be easier to trim later if necessary. Hope that is helpful☺

This even works with music, following these steps I've learned what retains people's interest and my videos have gone from 3 views to 60 views practically overnight. May not seem like much, but I'm just starting out, and have no doubt my channel will continue to grow as I learn to read the algorithms better :) Marcus I'm so thankful for your videos, and don't let the haters get you down, far more ppl love your stuff man!

For me, personally, the 0 views water only happens for 4 hours-2 days. But this video sure helps!

Quick question Marcus! After you trimmed your video, did you experience a dip in views initially before the views took off? I had a video that had been up for 5 days and had gotten about 2,000 views - but the retention was low, there was one point in the video that seemed to turn viewers off. I trimmed the offending clip out of the video but then my views dropped from about 20 - 30 views an hour down to 1 or 2 views an hour! Most views (over 90%) were coming from the KZread home page before. If you trim the video and push a new version out, does that mean the algorithm "resets" the video to Day 1, as if it just got published? I'm worried that by trying to fix my retention, I've actually messed up my views.

Nice yea I've done this to a couple where the intro was too long etc. Problem is with adventure videos they usually have music overlayed and sometimes it kills the flow and timing if i cut in post 😅 good tip/reminder for me tho!

Hi. I made my youtube channel recently and started uploading my videos. I record my videos, edit them, and upload them every week without any SEO optimization and mode at first. Then i start to write title, description, tags and thumbnails a few days later. Then set scedoual on them for publishing. They will publish in the sat day. Im in about 40's day of my channel and i have around 35 videos. I know that i need time for growth. But i tried to upload and SEO optimizing and publishing a video instantly today, and im getting more views than my entire videos. Did scheduled uploading or private uploading and scedual them later decrees the views value?

This is actually a very interesting advice. Does it works with KZread Shorts too? I just started this channel a week ago and I'm already seeing some shorts get kind of "frozen" after they've been shown to some people.

I'm skeert. I just took your advice. It is the first time I have ever used that editor. I cut my very first video down to half. It has been my best performing video (and the worst to watch) of all time, with the most views, but viewed only about a minute of the eight. I started out by telling everyone how much I suck, lol. I have a question about doing this. Will it recalculate watch time hours, etc? I finally this past week am just getting on top of my channel and fixing things, etc, and FINALLY getting watch time. I have just over 1600, so losing any scares me. Will it stop the momentum of that video?

I just did this with 3 of my videos to 'test' it. I'm curious if it works on videos that have been uploaded for a while and have very little traffic at the moment. It's not like they suddenly start pushing that video again or is it?
