    Yeah this video really lifted me up because I am right at that part of my startup where I'm struggling to find investors and my self-esteem has been going way down, starting to think that I'm a failure sometimes but this video really made me realize how important it is to have that self-esteem because otherwise you end up just grounding yourself which is what I did I've gotten so grounded that I haven't even made any progress on my business model and over a month. But I think I'm back at it now. This video really helped, and if there are any investors out there that are looking to make an investment let me know and I would be more than happy to go over what it is I'm looking for and my business plan and the equity that I'm offering.

    If you're whining about self esteem and 'muh feelings', you're not cut out for serious business. Investor money > 'harassment'. Soft people don't win.

    Thank you Aaron . I realize this video was posted 3 years ago, nonetheless, the content is still fresh, informative, relevant and I appreciate your straightforwardness. I had one question if you happen to review comments from old videos, as a entrepreneur with a specific product idea that hasn't yet reached a final prototype, do I need to be concerned about protecting valuable trade secrets, or methodologies. Especially, given the fact that I am talking with someone who has a lot of conversations with many other businesses any of which could see this as valuable information that they could fold into their plans. How often are investors denied specific details of intellectual property, or asked to sign an NDA? Any feedback would be appreciated, I'm all ears.

  • @derrickduplessy215

    @derrickduplessy215

    No investor will sign an NDA. Execution is so hard the risk of copying is low. They being said, don't send any patented info to an investor. Focus on how the product works to solve a problem. If the explanation is good, you'll receive $.

    An interesting observation from my side: Investors appreciate a good conversation, they first and foremost want to get to know the team. So don't spend 50 percent of the call rephrasing your pitch deck which is what a ton of startups do. Another big point is honesty: Most investors I've worked with would rather prefer it if you can clearly identify the pain points of your product and how you want to overcome them with his money (ie cost of user acquisition, influencer campaigns, A/B testing, UX testing), instead of being like "We are the best company in the world, we just need cash to show it" :)
