Point 6 is very important. I tend to be extra critical of myself and keep wondering what I did wrong. Linda, it sounds like you're a big fan of the "power of the subconscious mind" and thought energy. Having the right perspective is important.

Penelope416 you're human. It's just going to take some training in discipline. I as well have a tendency to do the same thing but we all will get over our shortcomings. We just need to realize our capabilities. Write down your flaws and work on them. Write down your strengths and learn how to use them. Take in as much positive information because when you fill your mind with positive things you will do positive things.That's a quote from Les Brown.

Usually I would provide advice on what you SHOULD be doing to increase your chances of getting hired. However, I noticed through my years of working with my 1:1 clients, that there are a lot of things that you should actually STOP doing. Check out the video and let me know your thoughts on the tips I have for you below! :)

I agree, there are so many little things that we should NOT be doing. Like how you mentioned not sending the same resume to each job posting an tweaking each a little bit. I've always done this and I know for a FACT that it has made a bid difference in getting call backs for interviews. Thats how I got my job at Stanford University! :) Thanks for the great advice btw, you at spot on!

hi Linda, is it okay to reschedule initial phone interviews, instead of answering on the spot questions unprepared? will this not imply a negative impression from the recruiter? thanks.
Point #6 was priceless. Thanks Linda, it was something I really needed to hear. You’re like the wind beneath my wings!
Not applying for positions you don't really want is a challenging one! I guess we feel good applying for as many as possible, and tend to have more low quality applications. Thank you for the video!

I can't agree more with you, sometimes applying and accepting a job you "don't really" want builds your resume and takes you a step closer to what you "really" want. You have to be strategic about how you navigate the labour world.

So so true. And hiring managers can spot those generic resumes VERY easily. You must TAILOR your resume. There's NO other way.
Point nr 4!!!!
Tip #4.. I relate to most. I might pass on this interview tomorrow for another interview in retail, A job I’ve wanted for years!! I don’t want to be miserable in a fast food place even if it’s my favorite.
Linda you need to do more videos for people with no experience
Im a big fan of you and a recruiter
Here are the following things that I want to share with the rest. Number one tip says that we need to read job descriptions carefully and only send in your resume when you think you are a fit for the job. The problem is that nowadays every company lists their job vacancies like its a grocery list with various demands. After applying to a dozen companies, I feel like I can never comply with their requests. The second tip explains that we should avoid sending in the same resume to every company. I have been told to only have one resume and avoid in having multiple resumes or change it based off the job you want. In the end, all of the skills, work experience and education are the same. Recruiters are looking at your LinkedIn profile every time so you just can't tailor your resume to each job position you find online.
Hi Linda, you are amazing. I love your videos. Can you make a video in how to get a raise during lockdown

I do not know if you will see this, but here it goes. Firstly, I love your videos and your advice is so helpful. With that out of the way, any advice on what to do for #5? I am stuck in a position I hate and I’m so unhappy with my current job. The company I work for is great and so innovative which drew me to it, but my position in driving me to the ground. Thank you and I really hope you see this.
Align to the position.
I need to get hired immediately.
Please make video on interview end questions with sample 🙂
This is not easy and just being realistic..great points you made but when someone that was affected by depression pre pandemic and on and off during pandemic can be hard. Lets say certain physical injuries. So I think I was just being hard on myself and I did take time to wind down and still am. I know the right job will come along. I am hopeful.
Thanks so much for your useful tips. You made a great video!
I've been applying for almost 3 years and I feel very defeated at his point. I graduated from CSULB with a Bachelors about two years ago, constantly fixed and tailored my resume to the jobs. Wrote convincing cover letters, networked with numerous people, and I still don't have a job. It's getting to the point where I think I will have to leave California to find a job. Is anyone else going through this?

Glad I came across to your video, but the sad reality in our country especially in our place is that there's a less opportunity to the job you want so that's why some people end up getting job that they don't like just to survive (have money).
@realnaturalist9932
4 жыл бұрын
I agree...some people look for the job they want and have the skill set to do but months go by without success and therefore in order to pay their bills and feed their families they apply for jobs that may not be of much interest (in the interim). They also continue to look for something they want in the background. Survival mode kicks in for many after savings get low and they need to be employed in order to survive.
A tip to you instructor, the world doesn't have expectations, those are people's expectations, learn to distinguish.
What if I want another position(hr) at the same organization but they did with me an interview about (teacher ) vacancy?? *** The organization is really comfortable place to work in ..
This is an interesting topic, but what happens with our LinkedIn profile which is just one and with all the different CVs? How different should they really be? Thank you!!
@lisamarieGWI

Hi there, that's a great point. When it comes to prepping your LinkedIn, it definitely needs to be tailored for each position. Having a good foundation and "tweaking" it would be the most convenient way for you to ensure your profile matches the jobs you are applying for. I would be more than happy to perform a free LinkedIn profile audit for you to see where it currently stands. As a Career Strategist, I've helped dozens of professionals attract more Hiring Recruiters via LinkedIn :)
Hi linda how to choose between the job that matched my experience and the jib that I interested in? Reality vs ideal?
I have had a couple of companies or recruiters reach out to me and want to get on a call. When this happens I do not have a job description and I am not sure how to prepare for these conversations.
For some technical reason, i can't open links..
Couldn't watch full video... Mobile data is so expensive here in Nepal.. 🙏
Should I simply apply and wait a week or two or should I call and follow-up up a few days later after applying?
This is helpful. I am currently looking for a job but recruiters are not getting back to me. I feel that I must be doing something wrong. Plus the time after quarantine and coronavirus is not the best but I try to stay positive.

What about location, I live 45 minutes away from NYC and I fit the criteria for an entry level auditor, but I don’t even get an interview. Why is that?
I just want this job that’s I applied for, so I thought that I wasn’t supposed to keep calling the job each day when I applied for the job.
To add something to why you shouldn't apply to a job that you don't want, for the majority of people it will effect your work productivity. The last thing you want is job on your resume with a average or less than average review. This is especially true if you use it as a reference. Lets say you applied to a dream job and you nail the interview and this perspective employer calls that reference and they pick up. They say he was an average worker or worse an unproductive worker. What do you think your chances of getting that dream job will be?
If I have to customize my resume for every single one of the many jobs I will be applying for, what if they lose my resume and ask me to send it again? What if I can't find that exact one?
@lisamarieGWI

I recommend having more than one copy on hand or saving your resume variations onto your computer. Employers are generally very good at staying organized and maintaining their candidate database. Hope this helps!

#6 is great. The reality is that 22 million in the USA alone will need to be filled once social distancing is lifted. The economic fundamentals are sound and Q3 and Q4 are set for a roaring comeback with interest rates being at an all-time low.
