I think you missed the most important part about this. Google maps allows you to download maps to the phone, which allows it to work where there is no service. The GPS in the phone works everywhere, and with a predownloaded map, it will work perfectly in the middle of nowhere, on your dash. You can download your entire state or more if you have the gigs to spare.

Used Carplay with Google maps just recently with a new iPhone 11. First time I've used and apple product. There is much to like about Apple Carplay. The general interface, the layout/configuration of icons and screens, etc. However, I hate hate hate not being able to pinch and zoom on either Google maps or Apple maps. I can't drag and move around on the map. Android auto is much better that way. Also really liked being able to say "OK google, navigate to blah blah blah..." or "OK Google, play Hotel California by the Eagles" etc. All that by not touching a button or screen, just say "OK Google ...".

Great Job Rich Google Maps on Apple CarPlay made simple.

I can get google maps on my apple play, but I only see about 12 locations on favorites, saved, etc. How do I see the others. I have 47 locations on my favorites and can't see them in my car.

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe so I use blue link when i plug in an address on my navigation system. It sometimes takes me through neighborhoods that I don’t need to go. Before I plug in my info into my car. I check the directions on my iPhone and it tells me something different. It tells me to go straight then tells me to turn right but the navigation on my car tells me to go through these neighborhoods which is stupid when I can stay on this one street then turn right. It’s frustrating.

I’ve been waiting for this as well. Got IOS 12 on Monday. Tried the new Apple maps yesterday and it appears to have improvements. Just updated my google maps so I’ll try it. I’m really waiting for Waze. I think there traffic is better here in NYC.

How did you get it to show up in CarPlay settings?

Traveling in GA. I am from TX and I have no idea why my GPS location shows that I am in Texas. This happens only when I connect the cable to the radio. Map works perfect if not connected to radio. Anyone with the same issues????

Google Maps has more features, but Apple Maps has everything I need. Plus it works with Siri. For the last 2 years I have had no problems with Siri not understanding me, and it always gives me the correct directions. I don't need to punch thru the screen while I'm trying to drive. I'll stick with Apple maps. I do like Spotify on CarPlay! Now if only Apple would allow me to download Spotify Music playlists to my Apple watch for offline listening.....

Shane Moore Apple View will not bring up the Satelite view in Apple Car play but Google Maps will when your phone is set to it👍

All of the add on are not as robust as at least Garmin is in Honda. At the state all of these are in now I would still pay for Navi in car.

When you travel from Canada to the States or from the States to Canada, you need a Navi. You don’t want to use roaming data.

I dont get why Car dealers wouldent go into a Contract with Google Maps before? Like its so good! (By before i mean like in 2015 and so on) But ofc you dont need to seem to do taht now just conect your phone and vola

If your phone's IOS is updated, make sure the Google Maps app is also updated. Go to App Store. Tap "Updates" at the lower right. Scroll to Google maps & select "update". Once it's updated, go back to "Settings" - "General" - "CarPlay" - "Uconnect (or whatever shows up for your car)" ... Google Maps should now show up!

If your phone is jailbroken you can get KZread and Netflix too.

I will stick with Apple Maps. Just as good and doesn’t crash every 5 minutes like all android and google does.

except apply maps isnt as accurate. in fact just today it routed me a weird way to a destination i always go to 2 hrs away. way longer route but said 2 minutes quicker. yet google didnt even offer the weird way and i always get there in 1:40. only reason i even looked at maps was because i cant get my damn google maps to be available on car play
