Of course Apple agree to this. You need an iPhone to make it work so more sales for them.

I figured out the other day that the recent app switcher isn’t a true last 3 apps, but the last Navigation, Music, and Communications apps! Wish it was the last 3 used so I could easily switch between Waze and Google Maps.. Love your content and videos! 😄

Go into settings on your iPhone, and you can move around where the icons will be located on the CarPlay screen. That means you can drag Apple Maps to the second screen, and drag Google Maps to the main screen.

Thanks for showing the keyboard in Google Maps. Can't be believe it was this hard to find anything on it.

I was so excited for this update!! I’m a huge google maps fan and used to used it on the daily when I didn’t have Apple car play in my old car. I can not deal with imaps, for some reason I get more lost 🤷🏻‍♀️

After I download iOS12, I found apple map improved a lot, is good. Also, when using google map I find very less voice instruction compare to apple map, is it normal

I tried Google Maps on Android Auto earlier this year and it wasn't that great. I didn't cope well with multi-waypoint pre-made (on computer) routes, which the normal App handles just fine. The current CarPlay implementation seems similar. Hopefully Google will improve both implementations over the next coming months. Maybe CarPlay will make things progress quicker.

Does it recalculate a new route if you’re in congested traffic?

I like both, I love the Apple watch vibrating letting me know where to turn even though apple maps already told me. Wish that feature was in Google maps.

So I can put the google maps on the CarPlay as well? How do that apps work from phone to radio

Shame you still can't actually use steering wheel voice controls, with this or any other music apps. Should be a class action suit to force this as having to utilize the screen is an unnecessary safety issue.

if I wanted to be navigated to a certain location I found on the map, is there any possibility I can press and hold this location to start the navigation?

So, I don’t want dark mode( black map) at night. If it works with headlights, how can I see the normal color map at night?

I would say the feature that sets google maps over the Apple maps program is the “satellite maps function”. In my opinion of course! It makes your car have a more luxurious feel to it. (Again that’s my opinion) 😂

I found it wasn’t very good and I deleted it. But the new Apple update might be the problem, I’m getting lots of glitches with CarPlay now.

My car's dash looks the same... 2005 Mercedes c230 Kompressor? Am I at least close?

Your carplay is so much more fluid and smoother than mine... everything seems to go and load quicker. I am running Pioneer AVH-4000NEX

yeah, I was originally going to go with Pioneer, but Kenwood had the smoother experience for me.

Really spoilt for choice these days. My Subaru Crosstrek system uses Tom Tom but I can between Google maps and Apple maps with my iPhone.

What about HERE WeGo integration?

Would not work for me. Keeps saying it could not download any maps for my area. I do have Waze working though which in all honesty I think is way better than Google Maps anyway.

This is a good demonstration video. You should do more tech videos. Too many of the other reviewers are 🐑 and all report the same information. Few of them describe the user interface and experience . They only want to rattle of a list of hardware specs to show they are smart.

I think in USA Apple maps are now better but in other countries like india , China google maps is the one to use.

Hi, any wireless stereo options as I’ve experienced my phone battery long term performance drops significantly. Faced it in 6+ now in 8+ as well. Just want to avoid charging in car at all.

ZRAudio&Vlogs mine is now at 93% (health); this is what I’ve observed. Wireless is little expensive so I’d go for that one as I upgrade my phones after every alternate or 2+ release and I don’t get my battery replaced. iPhone batteries start degrading after 15-18 months generally.

Waze is now available for ios12

I use Google Maps on Android Car every week and I love it. Now I tried it for the first time in Apple CarPlay and I am a little disappointed. I miss some important functionalities: 1. While navigating Google Maps displays alternative routes but I cannot switch to them. 2. After panning in the map I don't know how to center the map again on the car. On Android Car there is a button for this. Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks, Martin

While this is a welcome and long waited feature, this is not really Google maps...since the interface of the app using Carplay is too similar to Apple maps. If you compare Google Maps on Android Auto...it's just like Google Maps on your phone. So GM on Carplay is a partial fail, I will keep using my Android phone and Android Auto. I also use an iPhone for everything else.

Good thing that apple added this. I prefer Google maps to Apple maps any day.

Also when typing address, do suggestions come up? Or I have to type the entire address?

i don't see Carplay option on my setting. Carplay not workling in my car anymore ( im on IOS 12, and it was working perfectly until this evening), i don't know why carplay is disappear from my setting's iPhone, i see only handoff and airdrop. do you have any solution or suggestion? thank you

Usually that is your stereo, I have to restart mine every once in a while by turning the key off and turning it back on

Anyone knows why my night mode is not working? Even when the lights are off. I have appradio 4. Another issue is the notification bar appears black with no text if you’re on another app while the navigation is on.

it senses it from the stereo and if the stereo is not connected to the dimmer switch wire it won't work.

it is, becuase when i turn on the lights the brightness increases and vice versa. that means that the dimmer switch wire is connected right?

It’s not the radio that needs to be updated, it’s the app on the phone and you have to be running iOS 12

I was most excited for Google Maps in iOS 12, since iOS 12 is pretty average, but Google Maps feels so half baked on my Honda Civic’s CarPlay.

All can play should look the same

The problem I find with carplay vs android auto is carplay needs much more human input to the screen. This is quite alarming when the whole idea is hands free. Google is simply better with android auto. I regret moving to iphone 12 pro max and carplay. I had a Kenwood car head unit in an Audi in 2015. It ran garmin and was still miles better and more handsfree than applecarplay.

Make sure you update the Google Maps app on your phone. As long as you have iOS 12 and it is updated and you have CarPlay you should see it

me too, but it's hard to justify getting a new car when you can get a 5 year old Mercedes for a quarter of its price or less. As much as I love tech, I like cars more and should do some of those videos. Maybe one day.

zollotech I hear you. I usually try to hold out for great finds. Bought a 2017 440i 6 months ago with 5500 miles on it for around 65% of the MSRP.

I am gonna stick with Apple Maps. They are just better then google maps.

Not impressed with google maps on CarPlay. No Siri assistance. The only thing decent about Google maps is the satellite imagery. I’ll stick with Apple maps.

I don't know.. Google maps sent me off track this past weekend. On another note, WAZE showed up on my CarPlay dashboard this morning. They must have updated the app.
