How To Get BIGGER CALVES Regardless of Genetics!!
Ready to finally grow those calf muscles?
I've been what I call "The Lab" trying different exercises, variations, tempo, sets, reps... you name it to get these calves to grow and recently I've been starting to see some really good results.
What I do is split my calf training into three separate parts and really focus in on the Gastrocnemius, Soleus and Tibialis Anterior. Here's an the exact workout from the video.
WORKOUT:
*Seated Calf Raise (Heavy Partial "Bottom" Reps) - 5 sets / 15 - 20 reps
*Standing Single Leg Calf Raise (Extreme Lockout w/ Weight Shifted Into The Glute) - 4 Sets / 20 + reps
*Dumbbell Flexion & Extension - 4 Sets / 20

Train them everyday. Train them light. Train them heavy. Do high volume. Focus on the stretch. And don't be lazy on them and end up with 16 inches calves after years of training like me. Start working on them right now.

@Fev Ola Train them harder. Overload them progressively. If you can double the load you can move using your calves there is no biological way for them not to grow.

@@dunklebaumwolle164 well think about it. The calves are used to insane volume. Every step u take requires calves. So it makes sense that they can tolerate more volume than other muscle groups

As someone here said, calves are used to very high volume due to walking etc. Something that blew my calves up massively is jogging in soft sand. I jog about 3-5km along the beach (if you have one near you, or a desert I guess) in the soft part of the sand. It kind of mimicks being a fat guy because your calves have to work extra hard to stabilise the weight.

I agreed, one time I was dragging a cooler full of beverage for about a mile on sand in a camping trip. I couldnt sleep that night. My calves were swollen I thought I was going to lose em that night.

Not only that, but do it in a good pair of zero drop shoes like Altra and use a toe strike. If you’ve never run with a toe strike, I HIGHLY recommend giving it a shot (especially with zero drops). Your calves with be on absolute fire after.

@@FinalFormation I do it with no shoes on, the less false stability the better, so that the muscles can naturally do why they evolved to do.

@@liammorgans7329 Yeah, my preferred shoes are Vibram fivefingers for that same reason. Most folks used to traditional running shoes might find something like Altra’s a little more manageable.
LET’S GOOOO MAN I’M SO HYPE!!! You deserve all the success that is on its way!!
Great video! Seated calf raises never did anything for me until I learned to do standing ones correctly (going for full stretch, pausing at ends of the movement etc.). When I got some decent gains from that, I started doing seated ones again and I'm blown away at the results. Learning the mind-muscle connection was obviously easier for me doing the standing ones.

Thiss…I always did seated before and hardly saw results but it changed when I started doing standing and donkey
Another awesome video Ryan thanks for all the information you put out I've implemented alot in to my work out . I'm from the UK and its refreshing to see so much content in 4 minute videos it's brilliant .
Again, thanks Ryan. You’re truly changing the way I train. Thus far, loving the pain!
This is fast becoming one of my favorite workout channels. Just good information delivered cleanly and without undue bombast, or overproduced video. Same reason I subbed to mountain dog. Keep it up 👍

This channel came out of no where and by far my favorite very informative and to the point! You should do some videos on well balanced meals for someone who’s cutting, bulking or lean bulking
Love that DB Tibialis variation. I usually use a “D” handle on any cable machine for extra tension. I’m trying this variation though.
Love this channel, No BS straight to the exercises. Thanks Ryan
That second exercise was like a one-legged variation of a donkey calf raise. Love the outside-the-box thinking.
Loving the added humor! this is my favorite channel so far, I've made better gains after following you since last Oct. thanks much

Man I was looking forward to that last one . . but having one of my ankles completely fused from an injury . . blew that out. Oh well there is only so much you can do sometimes. Ryans vids and training instruction is great though. Thank you a lot!
Hey Ryan, I always learn a new move when I watch your videos. Old School training I guess. Keep up the awesome videos.
Nice, thanks. You're the best for doing a calves video been asking for it.
Ryan amazing content, keep it coming :D do you think you could do a basic template? Like what would you have a beginner do to establish a base? The content you have made so far feels like a cherry on top, not so much meat and potatoes of training. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
thanks ryan, great job! thanks for all your work!
Awesome, I am going to try it today. Thanks Ryan
Dude def know his shit....i have incorporated all his workouts and have seen maaaaad results big time.....CRAZY RESULTS.....REAL TALK
Thank you Ryan, I will try these different variations.
Ryan, honestly, I love your channel. I wonder if you’ve ever heard of the “full range of partials”? I use that technique with your exercise selection and I believe it is the gold standard for gains, I am also a moron and don’t know what I’m talking about 99% of the time, but hey, I enjoy it. Thank you, from the bottom of right atrium. In the church of lifting you stand alone with your reforms and unorthodox ways. Thank you
There's nothing better than unleashing that inner 'mad scientist' in the gym/kitchen to 'pick their poison' + start toiling. I love the learning process + crave the challenge..my favorite video so far!
3.41 Soleus. Excellent exercise for the Soleus. Thanks so much. I was searching for a great exercise for the Soleus and finally got it !
Anything for strengthening the knees. Had to take about a month off from surgery, and my knees were just on fire from work and only getting in about half of my former training. Awesome videos I use a bunch of these exercises and a few weeks later I see people at the gym starting some of them.
LOVE the lean back action !!!
Good stuff Ryan. Very informative. Blessings

You can't get any more straight to the point. These videos are densely packed with solid information. Thanks for what you do, you're quickly becoming one of my favorites right up there with Jeff nippard and coach Greg
Ryan, this video popped up for me to watch today and just so happens I tore my left calf last night just trying to jog. Apparently I have been working myself a little too hard in the last week and it caught up with me.
This is really pro tips! Very impressive, and I'm not easily impressed. I workout every 48 hours with weights, full body, and always remember calves. They also help your running.

The GOAT of working out. Respect bro you're a major inspiration
I did calves every alternative day , high weight quality reps and body weights more reps on the other day. Result is my calves grew more than an inch in 40 days. I literally went from very skinny genetics calves to good prominent calves and everybody got shocked
