How To Get An International Driver’s License in 15 minutes (United States)
Get your #InternationalDrivingPermit (IDP) at a AAA Branch before your #travel date. You will need this to #DriveAbroad legally. This process will take you approximately 15 minutes!
You will need to provide:
Download and fill out an application, and bring it to your nearest AAA branch office.
Two original passport pictures (also available at AAA branch offices**).
A valid U.S. driver's license.
Pay $20 USD permit fee and you're ready to go!
Apply by Mail
If you are not able to visit your nearest AAA branch office, your IDP can be obtained through the mail. Simply enclose the following and mail them to the AAA office nearest you (check locally for payment options):
Your completed IDP application form
Two original passport pictures each signed on the back
$20 USD permit fee
A photocopy of both sides of your driver's license
If desired, include additional U.S. funds for expedited return mail service. See USPS.com (new tab) or Fedex.com (new tab) for rates.

The AAA office is the shit! I went in and got my IDP in less than 30 min, it was a bit busy. I even learned I can do DMV tings like auto title transfers and avoid that DMV dankness. Going in person was also a greater comfort to me than applying/paying for an International Driver's Permit online and it turning out to be a scam ( I was warned in another video ). Also, in person turned out cheaper than what online was asking. Excited to scoot around Bali for the first time!!! 😆 Thanks for the quick and simple video, beautiful balcony 🌲

The annoying thing about those international licenses is they're only good for a year which is annoying. I went to study abroad and I got one. Ended up getting a Lithuanian license (where I studied at) and it's good anywhere in the EU, and valid for 10 years

Mine was good for 3 years, which was my second (renewed). The local cops didn't give a sh't and wanted me to have the local permit. So good luck. One would think it would have been ok.

Will this be recognized in all the countries in the western hemisphere? I would like to drive the entire PanAmerican highway some day and have been wondering if I need to get a driver's license from each country the highway passes through.
