Thank you so much for the feedback. I know this field can be lonely - typically a one person department without anyone to ask questions or ask for help.

Is there anything I can do to help? Do you have any questions that I may be able to help with? I was thinking about your Green Belt project and the SAP inventory... If there is a problem that is plaguing the company - and you can somehow use the DMAIC / SSGB to remove that problem, you're golden! OR are you saying that you want to implement an SAP inventory system?

@@learnkaizen Well I work for Kone Elevator and we have boxes and boxes of Retrofits with different serial numbers that are stacked up in our warehouse. I need to figure a way to include make some type of inventory system to keep a count of them all. Do you think this would be a project I can include DMAIC/SSGB?

I'm graduating on December this year ( FALL 2021 ) B.A.S Logistics & Supply chain management with a minor ( A.S ) in Accounting . For one of my classes we had to do the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt instead I did the Green Belt just to be a head. All my previous experience is in retail. Good thing is that I was the Store Manager ( my local Target Store ) I have lots of inventory experience, warehousing, sales, budgets, managing people, but I can not get a decent interview. Will you recommend me to wait till I graduate to look for a decent position?

I’d recommend revisiting your resume. It sounds like you have some solid experience. I know it can be frustrating. Your resume/cv Is the key to landing interviews. Couple that with your LinkedIn account and some interviewing guidance, and there is no reason you shouldn’t be landing some interviews. How does your resume and LinkedIn look? After watching the video - were you able to find ways to improve your current resume/cv? I’d also recommend you get on this wait list (link below) - if you haven’t already. I’m putting together to help folks in your situation because I get these questions all of the time. Not just from people starting out but also for people who have years of experience and want to transition into this field. I’ve been helping folks one on one but it’s gotten extremely busy so I’m going to do a group/course to help more people. Here’s the link if interested: www.learnkaizen.com/magnetic-resume-for-aspiring-ci-professionals

@@learnkaizen The video did help me to look for holes in my resume. Related it to LinkedIn, I don't have a profile there. I'm really not into social media. But I will have to look into it. Thanks

Yes..definitely get on LinkedIn. Don’t think of it as a normal social media platform but rather a way to promote your personal brand value. Make sure it connects back to your resume!

If been recommended to focus on Scrum as many companies are anxious for agile PM practices, can you cover how applicable srcum is and give a brief description. Also have you ever used PMI institute? I'm using it for a lot of my PM degree but they have a feature where they can put you in touch with a local chapter and can also set you up with a mentor. Have you had any experience with PMI and if so what was your takeaway?

With Scrum: it just depends on your career goals. If you’re going for more I’d an Agile career path, then scum may be something you want to look into. It’s not the direction I’ve taken with my career. PMI is very well respected but I’ve never found the need for it in my career. At least not at the leave of an actual PM…I’ve had training in PM but I’m not going for a dedicated career in PM…I’ve lead some large projects that used elements of PM but a true, hardcore PM excels at tracking every element along with resources, costs, WBS, Critical paths, etc…while I may do this on small scales, it’s not something I’m Eager to do. I work with PMs and they rarely use all the tools. Hope this helps.

Chad - no more link to the free resource? A lot of times it's hard to get the metrics for your resume because it's been too long in the past and you forgot it at the time; or you were on a CI project but had no way to get the actual cost savings from the Manger/ team leader to be able to add to your cv/ resume. I agree that's the most important thing to show $$/time savings results in your resume?l, but it's not always easily obtained.

  • @learnkaizen

What free resource are you looking for? I understand that often a lot of time has passed from previous projects but don’t let that stop you from starting a portfolio/binder today…also, do you have actual projects documented, RCA investigations you’ve led? If you’ve saved the documents, you should be able to quickly calculate savings…it doesn’t always need to be in the form of dollars..can be time, productivity, safety, quality, delivery, etc. don’t ever rely on a manager or supervisor (or anyone)…if you led the project, you should be able to calculate the savings. This is extremely important for career growth! We are in charge of our future! Not others. Always happy to help where I can so please ask. Let me know what resource you’re looking for.

Yes! Don’t let the fact you can’t deliver a BB project hold you back. Take any project, deliver value and tie that value to the golden words mentioned in this video…rinse and repeat..build your personal brand value!
