how to get a good accent without learning the alphabet

Фильм және анимация

my accent isn't perfect but i think it's good enough that people usually get what i'm saying and i don't sound like too much of an idiot (most of the time). But i'm completely illiterate and i think this saved me so much time and energy, I may not have even started if i had to learn hiragana, katakana and kanji so i wanted to share how i did it!
just a side note, i mention in the video that i'm not sure what pitch accent is but that i think you can 'pick it up' by imitating what you hear. I've just watched a MattvsJapan video which you can find on his channel that let me know that's not true :D. Essentially, if you are not bothered about achieving a native level, this method works- otherwise more traditional methods of study may be required.

This makes a lotta sense. I gave up learning Japanese because I got scared of Kanji. But what you say made me think in how babies learn language, they don't learn the language by reading, they learn it by listening to others. I might be getting inspired again to learn, thanks Jannah!!

kanji isn't needed needed i guess, but i do find kana important. for the first few months of learning i only knew hiragana and some katakana. you can learn hiragana in like a day- (not too well though, it does take some practice). but i do recommend knowing some kana at least. what a good video! love your pronunciation 💓
