How to fully upgrade your RC Car! WLtoys 12402-A Brushless, Oil Shocks, Big Servo!

Ойын-сауық

Fully upgraded the WLtoys 12402-A desert buggy! 3900KV Brushless Motor, 60A ESC, 20kg Servo, Big Oil Shocks! Trying it on 2s Lipo, and it's rapid!

So this thing was very impressive! It took 2s like a champ! No issues! I didn't want to take it to hard at the skatepark as I want to test this out in the dry! But Over 50km/h is a really good speed for 2s! I think we can get close to 70km/h (43mph) on 3s Lipo!
One of the best value RC Cars out there at the moment. So many cheap RC cars to choose from, and this is certainly in my Top 10 RC Cars 2019. 3s Run next!

    Cheers for the video, that was very useful. I've added the ZD Racing shocks (after ordering some way too small!) and it handles so much better and is worth it for this cool car. And I opened up the car and fixed a problem of loud rattling, which was caused by dirt or gravel in the gears. Thanks to your vid I plucked up the courage to try and fix it myself. I'd love to be able to do brushless upgrades etc in the future, thanks for getting me started with tinkering.

    might be springs a little long giving too much pre-load for the light chassis? done it to quite a few RC's, cutting 1 or 1.5 turns and flattening the new ends with 2 pair needle nose. pretty easy to make them good, just look and think as you go bending+flexing them into shape. lighter oil wont help if there's too much spring to start with. I do like some softness, if it sits about 3/16" low under its own weight it's "there" with a little negative suspension travel to help keep it stable, not stiff staying dead flat spinning out. if you're going to go bashing and launching just run the spring collars down 1/8" to have the stiffness back, no harm done.

  • @TomleyRC

    @TomleyRC

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, possibly the springs need modding or changing. The oil in the 'Vampire Ghost' ones from factory was more like Diff oil! so that made a big difference changing that over.

    I changed the motor gear from 19T to 17T, but I could observe the gap between the great gear reducer and the teeth. The reason is that the diameter of 17T is smaller than 19T. Is there any way to solve this problem? When a large torque is applied, there seems to be a risk of the teeth slipping.

    THIS is question i was asking before i bought this beast..short answer is..113mm long x 41mm wide x 25mm deep due to sloping shape of battery door max deep is on one side but opposite side can take 30mm deep, so in theory if battery is max 35mm wide it should fit around the reinforced sloping compartment door internally.. takes a wl toys lipo 2200mah 25c 2s "from 124019" EASY which is 103x35x16mm..Remember you need room for the wires a little so you lose length available.. my future plan is for a brand cnhl 3s/40c/2200mah with brushless but was too deep because of battery door sloping but might fit if i shave some plastic of support of door "roundness off" that battery is 111mm x 30 x 27mm deep..12402-A D7 is fun to tinker with all rc cost money on parts and upgrades aliexpress/bangood is your friend but expect to wait 2-3weeks each time for parts.. advise/opinion if you want to jump with this the it will not last long, things will start ripping out and bending plastics parts like control arms and screws torn out of plastic, my opinion only..i like to just drive around backyard for 12-15minutes at a time...good luck everyone..

    @@jaybeetube3333 Hallo, Are you sure that it actually is 32 pitch…? Since it is an Asian manufacturer it could be more likely 0,8 module… 🤔 Both, 32 pitch and 0,8 module, are very close to each other, but not completely the same. Many times, it works quite good combining 32 pitch and 0,8 module, but most perfect would be to use exactly the right, same module… Many Thanks and keep on having FUN, 🍀 Thorsten

    HalliHallo, Now, since I have raced the truck for a weekend at a track, I can confirm that the spur- and pinion gear are metric M0,8. I had to change gearing for the track, used Tamiya M0,8 pinions and the truck was running absolutely smooth and without any "gearing noise"….so, the gearing mode must be OK, so it is M0,8… Keep on having a good RC FUN time, Thorsten 🌞😎

    its RPM's per 1 volt applied, with lower kv usually delivering more torque. another spec to look to is how many watts it'll really handle, 748W equivalent to about 1 HP. rule of thumb, if a motor is staying really cool you can increase the size of the pinion gear, if its really warm you need a smaller one immediately!
