Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This video helped me finally figure out this trick. I have been working on it for years. I could lock my back heel wheel, but the grinds were tiny and I would pivot back into the ramp too quickly. Here were the cues that really helped me: Touch your tail. 4:56 “Your tail is going to touch that coping. Don't try to manual this. This is not a manual.” 6:57 “Try to get that tail to touch.” 9:00 “Try one heavy here and let your board shoot out in front of you.” I wasn't getting my weight back. My weight wasn't heavy enough on the back foot. When intentionally trying to let the board shoot out in front of me, I actually got my weight back enough to lock me into my first true 50-50 grind.

I always thought the same thing. Now that I finally live near a skatepark and through awesome people like JB I just started again this year at 36. I've progressed way more than I ever thought I would. Love this stuff!

dude i needed this so much! ive been stuck on slash grinds for years trying to push myself to get on top. cant wait to get to the park tmrw an try this. now that i know your supposed to touch the tail on the coping it might be easier. this whole time i thought it was a manual

I can ride a half pipe but I need to work on my backside turns not good at those at all. My whole line is frontside. I feel way more wobbly backside and I don’t know why. I think it scary cause your back is facing forward and you can’t see where you’re going. Wish I knew how to make it more stable

Hey JB, is a pinch lock where your wheel is up against your board and not spinning? Or like more of a balance beam sitch somewhere between that and having your wheel behind the coping at just the right angle? I can’t get my wheels to touch the deck of my board even with the trucks as loose as possible… I think they’re too short for a deck this wide or something…
