Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel!
Many of you have been asking me "How fo you fly an RNP approach with a Boeing 747". A few months back the ILS (Instrument Landing System) in Luxembourg was down for runway 24, that you could only use a RNP approach. So I took the liberty to record this approach with my great captain. We briefed the approach a few times in advance as it is relatively rare to fly an RNP approach these days.
Please bare with me that this is just a brief explanation on how to fly this approach. I did not mention the"ghost pointers", the 747/8 IAN capabilities, which I will highlight in a Microsoft Flight Simulator video very soon. It would have just come across where unnatural to stop the video over and over again to show what exactly is happening, there the SIM videos are just better.
Please bare in mind that the PFD and ND displayed in the video is screen recorded from a simulator which I flew on the same day. But it is a little inaccurate compared to what we've really done that day!
I hope you enjoyed this video, more of these will be coming soon!
Thank you very much for your time! I hope you enjoy this video!
Wishing you all the best!
Your "Captain" Joe

No, no! As we learnt in this video the correct phrase to use is a simple: "I have control!" Maybe wiggle whatever you used to get into the cockpit in front of their noses a bit. Might help.

I really like your vids CaptinJoe, they really show what it's like to fly in real life planes which not a lot of people have access to. Thanks for your great content. -Ice711
It is so cool that your company is up with you posting this stuff :) Thanks for providing us groundlings with insight into what goes on up front :)
Honestly, with the amount of information you've given me, I'm actually ahead in physics classes and I feel so ready to go to university already. Thank you Captain Joe!
Your vids and your quotes are really inspiring and I can’t wait to maybe see you in the skies some day joe!!!
Moien Joe! I live in Luxembourg, and always when I see a CLX, I’m thinking; is there Joe inside? I really like Cargolux, especially LX-VCM, LX-VCM, and LX-NCL. You have luck to fly for such a beautiful bird, and this good airline.

Love the before landing proceedures. Keep up the nice work Joe.
Miss that cute smile in this video. ❤️

Quick Question: Why do you handover controls to your captain instead of continuing to taxi yourself?
@tomstravels520

A lot of airlines the captain is the only one who taxis. Some planes only have a steering tiller on one side

Hi Capt Joe. Great explanation on flying an RNP approach. I have 42 years combined military/commercial flying, currently on the 787, and am also a checkairman, what you might call a TRE/TRI. Couldn’t have explained this better myself. Keep up the good work.
