How to fix wire connectors on your car
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Rats often crew through sensor wires damaging them. Fortunately soldering and repairing automotive wire connections is pretty easy... once you find the short.

As always, this can be dangerous! I'm not a professional, so you must use your own judgment when attempting any repair!

Thank you, you are the first video i found to have actually shown and demonstrated how to fix the actual connector not just replace the whole thing. Thank you sir!
Thanks, my connector needed to be removed to get those severed terminals out. I needed to repair or replace the connector but somehow I searched and up came this video. I never got the tool but used to 2 pins to do the trick. Thanks to the info I managed to get it done but life would have been so much simpler with that terminal removal tool. Thanks again all the way from Cape Town South Africa
EXACT same thing happened to me. So glad I found this video. Didn’t have that tool so I used a Bobby pin.
You are the best guide to fixing connectors.I really well saw what happend in locking mechanism at 2:00.VERY HELPFUL. thank you.
Burner thank you for posting this, great explanations and excellent video work!
Finally a repair video, not a replace one
Very well done 😌👍 I enjoyed watching
I like this video I kind of know how to get the wire out of the sensor but kind of forgot over the years now that I'm working on my vehicle myself this video show me up and close how to pull it out of the whole again so thanks
Thanks for this video, you just made my day
Very informative video! Good camera work and editing too!

Thank you! I've enjoyed your channel; I know you get what it takes to make a simple video like this!
Good "how to" video! When soldering wires together, it's best to heat the wires before applying the solder to them. Keep the tip of the soldering iron on the wires until hot, then apply the solder so it flows onto the wires.

Thanks! And you're absolutely right. I didn't go into great detail, because, well, I'm lousy at soldering.
Great video. Thanks, Ben! We all know how miserable a hidden broken wire can lead to. Finally you get this knocking sensor error solved!! It's time for a cup of hot Seattle coffee!! ;p

The wires going to the connector is twisted pair. Twisted pair cabling is a type of wiring in which two conductors of a single circuit are twisted together for the purposes of improving electromagnetic compatibility. Make sure to twist the cables you replace.

Robert K Do you know or know of a wire color connection diagram?. I have a crankshaft sensor connector pigtail with R/BL/BLK and the other end BR/BR GN/GN and I don’t know which goes with what?.
Great video! What do I do if the plastic nub that holds the connection together breaks off?
Thank you,very helpful.
Nice video thanks for the share!
Nice work Can you please post a link of the tool that you used to remove the wire from the connector thank you
I knew this was possible, it’s so hard to find this video, thanks! I need to change my 12v car charger
I really dident know this untill just recently but soldering ages crimping does not. I dont know how much or how long, it was just an airplane electrisian who told me, maby Its good for the lifespan of a car :)
Very helpful 👍
What is that tool called? Where can I purchase one?
Good demo

Great job
Where do you purchase the terminal connectors if you want to replace them?
thanks for this...
Do you know what gauge that wire was?
So the wires have to go back into there specific slots?
Well done, that looked fiddly!

Indeed it was. I'm glad to have it finally sorted. it's a simple problem, but it was a real pain to track down and fix. I'll be extra careful of rats from now on!
do you need to disconnect the battery when soldering in a pigtail connector for a coolant temperature sensor?

hey man. I'm going to buy a 986 but its been sitting for 3 years. i have to drain the fluids and change the timing belt and spark plugs to get it running. i also live in california. would you consider helping me with it? you could make it a new series on you channel.

Where did you buy the tool?
What was that wire terminal tool with all the diff sizes called?

Lol u just said it..."wire terminal tool" lol Local auto parts store should have it or look up "Lisle"
not only rats but more apt to be a cotton tail rabbit which happens quite regularly or even squirrels.
Thx man
Super ✨👍🏼
How did you select the wire?

I just found a wire that was a little thicker gauge than the wire on the car. I figured as long as it was as least as thick, it won't overheat, etc. I also used heat shrink tubing over the entire length as an added protection against heat and oil.
Man wish I knew this guy lmao
Serious? It is common for a rat or a mouse to chew up your engine wires? I have my Porsche sit in the garage through the whole snowy winter. Sounds like I am running a high risk of having a damaged engine afterward. Any recommendation on how to keep the critter away?

It is a millions-of-dollars-a-year problem, rats chewing vehicle wires. Three days ago my '09 Toyota Corolla took a hit in the ignition coil wires.
Oh man you're amatauer in soldering :D You musn't give tin first on connectors. Only just a little bit, next you touching connector with soldering gun and at the end brings you tin :)
What if I don't know which wire goes in each wire housing?
I'd like a link to the tool for removing the connectors from the plug. I could comment on your soldering technique, but I won't. I'm a fan of solder rather than crimp connections too.
Hi I have a Acura TSX 09 My O2 sensor engine harness was chewed up as well and I went to 2 different shops and no one knows how to fix it I called around to every auto parts store for help and no one as a new part for my car If anyone can put me in the right direction On what to do that’ll be great

Great Video Ben. Have you ever thought of using FLUX? Makes soldering jobs a breeze as the solder flows a lot better. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flux_(metallurgy)

@@BurnersCars I would recommend you add a piece of steel wool to that shopping list! It works wonders for cleaning a gunked-up soldering iron tip.
This is exactly what happened to me. A wholeness inside.
Did anyone else see the rat run by around the :40 mark.

Solder melts near the engine and cracks under vibration. Because of this it's not used in cars to fix wires.

Hi, what if I ripped the wires and because of that I can't pull the terminals from the wires? Can I push out the terminals instead of pulling out by the wire?
@anthonybetkowski4892

yes you can, make sure that you have a tool small enough to push out the terminal
