After deleting software distribution now they are saying there is nothing for un update

MJ Tube: Sorry, I did finally get things to work. But, I'm not sure which one finally did it. I was trying different things that I had found in different threads. I wish I could remember more so others could benefit if they were having the same problem.

Marouene dakhlaoui, I am not sure if this is the one that finally worked for me or not. But, it sounds like what I tried on my computer. Follow this link below, then scroll down to the section marked, "How to fix Windows Update: Delete files in Software Distribution" and follow the instructions listed closely. www.alphr.com/microsoft/1001411/how-to-fix-windows-update-in-windows-10-if-it-becomes-stuck-1 Hope it helps!

thanks but I already figured it out , used unlocker to force delete the files

Tip dont delete the file just wait for it lke 10-30mins its long because its updating security not like its downloading an ordinary file so just wait for it

the service is not stoping and starting help pls

go to run and type services.msc then find background intelligent transfer service and windows update and right click and stop and disable both of them then you can delete the files after you deleted them you can set them back to automatic and start them

It's stuck because Windows is checking things before downloading the required files. Just be patient. You don't need to do these things.

It takes a few minutes to start just wait it worked for me

Followed everything step by step..made no difference

🔥🔥 DON'T GO FOR THAT MUCh HECTIC PROCESS 🔥🔥 Simply keep it open for an hour .. after that restart your PC. (It will update security) Now try updating again... It will work. Moral of the story : Win 8.1 is installing background security patches and when this is done.. simply restart & update. Will work.
