HI Alex!!!! Soooo... here I am again! After 8 months of coming upon your super duper excellent work/page. I now used this video for updating windows 8 from MICROSOFT SURFACE 3 tablet. Took 3 hours and 20 minutes to update 127 of them! I have tips! So what i had to do this time was... download the software you provides in description Turn off WIFI then turn off COMPUTER Then disable updates Then go to downloads and click on the software you provided. Let it do its thing... Restart PC and enable updates as well as wait 20 minutes to detect... then 3 hours to update. 😎 GUYS!!! DON'T GIVE UP!!! THANKS AGAIN, ALEX!

Weird technique that you did there but looks like it works just fine, it's just taking many hours which i don't think you had a problem with. Thank you everyone for 10k views! From the bottom of my heart thank you! I did not even think we would hit 10k views on this video but we eventually did! i did not expect this at all! After 6 months this video hit 10k views it took a long time but it's not a problem, we hit it anyways. 3 months ago i posted a comment saying "Thank you for 1k views" and after 3 months we hit 10k, who knows after 3 months again we may hit 20k views! We never know! Whoever watched this video i hope i fixed the issue. And again thanks everyone!

Wow, the solution worked absolutely great. My windows 8.1 updates were just going endlessly for hours checking and checking. This resolved the issue. And now i have about over 160 plus updates to install. Thanks man.

Confirmed . The link works for US and Canada , Thanks a million Alex , My pc was stuck in the checking for updates mode after a fresh instal of 8.1. It went on forever. I found your youtube video wondering if it would fix my windows update problem even though i live in Canada. I wasn't sure if it would matter that the link was from the EU . So I created a restore point just incase it didn't jive with a U.S or Canadian system. I did exactly what you said and the download worked perfectly. I just had to remember to turn back on the auto updates after the restart. Everything works no problems. Oh by the way your english is fine i understood every word.

Don't panic it may take a few min ,My advice , before doing stuff like this you might wanna do a ccleaner to help speed up your pc or you might just have a slow internet.

thanks bro this helped me out a lot! i have windows 10 pro as my daily driver but i also have windows 7 and 8.1 too. when i used to check for updates on 8.1 it would stay at checking for updates for quite a while. im pretty knowledgeable with computer but its always good to learn new things that way you can help out other people who need it.

If i remember correctly i had Windows 8.1 before Windows 10 was released but i do not remember having this issue, i remember checking for updates (on 8.1) and found all the updates without being stuck forever, idk what Microsoft did to 8.1. Anyways i am also pretty knowledgeable with computers but i can not say I'm an expert with computers, i have lots of stuff to learn in order to be an expert but I'm only 16 years old and i don't know everything about computers. Of course i can do simple and advanced tasks on my PC or if someone asks me to do it and etc

To be honest there was no need to let the Windows Update for 12 hours straight, if you had let the Windows Update for like 1 hour and nothing happened then you know that something's wrong but anyways it's my pleasure helping bud :D

I also found lots of other KB updates and they didn't work, that's the only one that worked. Haha, i saved lots of peoples lives with my video :)

Trust me before i recorded this video, i tried sooo many KB updates to fix this problem and every single one that did not work, i had to reset the whole Windows 8.1 VirtualBox and that took me about 30 mins close to 1 hour but eventually i found this KB update.

@@ujjwalkhandelwal5132 Do not worry it's taking a while because its 150+ updates so it will take a while but if it still stays stuck at 0% restart your PC (to stop the update) and try installing 20 updates first and the rest later

You're welcome. Are you talking about the windows update? If yes, download every other update except the one that's stuck on 0%. After that download the update that was stuck on 0%. If the windows update is stuck at 0%, restart your PC and download every other update except the one that's stuck. I hope you understood what i said.

don't forget to turn back on auto updates after the restart, I forgot as well and the same thing happened to me but after turning it back on . I ran the update checker and it went through perfect then installed all the updates with no issues. Follow the tutorial to the letter.

Hey Alex, will this work on the error: "We couldn’t complete the updates. Undoing changes"? It will take a while, but eventually comes to this screen about not being able to update, and then undoing the changes.

@@andycrosier3541 Honestly you're better off going to Windows 10 and be done with your current problems because Windows 8 and 8.1 weren't that good in terms of Windows Updates so my best bet is to head to Windows 10 straight away

Try and kill the WUSA.exe process in Task Manager and try again or if you want to can restart your PC to clean this process.

Hey! I am not able to change the windows update settings to "Never check for updates" I get a pop-up saying administrator permission required. I am using an administrator account already. Can you please help me with it?

Sorry for the late reply. It doesn't matter if you're using an Admin account, it will still ask you for your permission even if you're on an Admin account, i mean, i am on an Admin account as well and it still requires me for permissions, not only me and to whoever uses an Admin account

So you said you get a pop up of UAC (the administration thingy) and you click "Yes", does anything happen? I mean that's basically the administration process, a pop up of UAC pops up, you click "Yes" to give permission and that is that, idk what's with your situation lol. No i don't think my video will fix your problem because my video is for people that have the "Checking For Updates" that's stuck forever, but as you told me your PC can download updates but cannot install. Wait, have you tried installing one one the updates? E.g You try downloading 50 updates at once and the bar is stuck at 98%, have you tried installing 1 update to see if the bar gets unstuck?

Alex Tutorials Yes. And it's okay! I'm trying to figure out what's causing the Windows 10 update to not go through, as it stops at Checking for Updates. This helped me manually be able to update everything I needed, which is awesome. But do you know if that would fix the problem when fully updating to Windows 10?

@@astrometries1944 Yes it will fix it because if you update everything it will fix the Windows 10 installation issue. If you have trouble installing all the 158 updates and you see it stuck again, download the updates slowly e.g download 20 updates first and then the others.

Hi again! I think it's actually working fine and it's just that I have too many pending updates which the progress bar can't really show at the moment. Found a tip to check if it's really working by going to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and checking if things get added as time passes by and it actually does (check time stamps)! Hope this helps for those who thinks downloads are stuck bec there's no indication in the progress bar. I'll just wait for this to finish and get back with an update :)

There are a lot of updates so yea the progress bar may look stuck because it's 100+ updates but all you need is patience and everything will get downloaded and installed. Glad you didn't get stuck on downloading because that another problem lol. Also another solution that is that you could try downloading 10 updates per time and that will make the progress bar move but as you said everything's working fine. Trust me the updates will take at least an hour to finish it's not like 10 min and done, it will take at least an hour, ofc it depends on how good your PC is and your internet speed

@@alextutorials Really do like Windows 10! Was busy tinkering around settings and all (hence the late reply lol). I haven't tried with Windows 7 yet but was wondering just in case I run into the same update issues. No worries tho, I'll cross the bridge when I get there. Thanks a million! 😊

i downloaded the update and changed my settings to never check for updates and ran the file but its just loading and says searching for update ? did i do something wrong

No you did the steps right. Unfortunately i do not have many solutions to tell you but, maybe you have installed this KB update in the past and you do not remember it? and maybe that's why it doesn't work?

@@gets_my_goat6213 Yes there is a way to uninstall updates and what you need to do, go to Control Panel, go to Uninstall Programs, then in the left side click "View installed updates" and then search the KB that i showed in the video. If the KB update is shown in the list on your computer, right click and then click "Uninstall" and lastly try reinstalling the KB update again. Hope this helps

I've followed all the steps but now it's stuck on searching fo undated using the standalone installer? 🤷‍♀️

Did you change the option at 1:54 from "Install updates automatically" to "Never check for updates"? because that's why it's stuck again

I downloaded the KB3112336 update, restarted my computer and changed settings back to automatically check for updates but its been running for over 5 minutes. I hope this works.

Thank you for your answer (and video). Anyway, the problem was solved! I have updated my Windows 8 to Windows 10 (no extra costs), and that's it). Works even better now!

Sorry for the late reply, i actually forgot to reply to your comment. And my pleasure! My video then was pretty much useless because you could straight up upgrade to Windows 10 with an ISO file or upgrade it straight from Windows itself lol

Yep i know and you may ask why does that happen, well it's simply because there are like 150 updates and that's why it takes a looooong time to find the updates but it's worth waiting for sure
