How to fix the CDJ 2000 Wait E-8709 Error Tutorial

Tutorial on fixing the E-8709 / Wait Error on a CDJ 2000 by reflowing the BGA of the two chips on the main assembly using just a heatgun and a screw driver.
I fully covered how to dissemble the cdj, the reason for the error, the reflow process and re-assembly of the unit.
You could also use this tutorial on how to replace the main assembly board. Pioneer Part: DWG1660
Post in the comments if you have questions and I'll do my best to respond.
This should apply to the full line of CDJ standalone products:
Pioneer CDJ 850
Pioneer CDJ 900
Pioneer CDJ 2000
Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus

I Just did fix one of mine that presented this problem. Did It with a hairdryer!!! 3 rounds of 15s on Max heat. I isolated the rest of the board cutting a square hole with the Chips size on a piece of paperboard. Job done! Amazing tip! Thank You so much for the vídeo mate! Helping half of the world with this! Amazing how these Pioneer CDJs are a piece of crap inside...

I followed the procedure and at first it worked but when I off and on it, it went back to the WAIT then I did it again and it worked. Something weird also happened, the Cdj always work perfect before I close the back tray but as soon as I close the tray and put the bolt, it will stop working and go back to the wait error. I did that like 4 times before I decided not to put all the bolts on the back tray so I only used 3 of the bolts instead of the 5 and it working perfect ever since. I still don't know why that happened till now. thanks, God bless you.

And why the chip change the behavior of the cdj like that? What happened to the chip and what do the hot air to the chip? Is incredible. Coul be the humidity? Or the vibrations? Is something connected to the hits when you move the cdj from the case to the consolle? I'm curious! thanks a lot!

If like xbox this fix is probably temporary. People “reflowing” it with hairdryers, a hairdryer is never gonna get hot enough to melt solder otherwise it would be too dangerous to put near your head😂 Headgun would def get hot enough but personally i would recommend if you are reflowing bgas that you run some liquid flux under them first as it will help the solder flow better. Also would recommend a temperature probe to check what temp the board is getting and maybe some foil and capstan tape to protect the other components. That aside thanks for the info on the problematic board. Good job

What are you hooking the RCA's in to? I would try to use the digital out and see if you still have issues (you can use a regular RCA cable for that too) and just plugin to the mixers digital input. Keep in mind the CDJ's output is going to be at LINE levels so if you are hooking in to something that's non-amplified it will sound quiet.

@@dmbpromovents034 I am guessing the ribbon cable is damaged. When I assembled mine, I did a rough job, and totally saw one of the ribbon cables damaged. Must be that

@James Ross, I would like to know this information too. Debating if I should just use hair dryer instead of going out and buy a heat gun

Ok so I discovered this error at about 9pm on a Friday night. I unplugged the power cable along with all rca and link cable, left the house for about 3-4 before i returned to give it another shot. Plugged everything in and for some miraculous reason it works. I have no idea what the hell is going on, and highly doubt what I did had any influence, but it just started working again...
