Just fixed this in my car in a little under 1:45 minutes because of your video. Had trouble with the 3 inch bolt but managed to work it all out by separating the steering wheel and the steering shaft. Also disconnected the wires from the steering wheel that contain the clock spring for more leverage and room. Thank you for this video. I saved myself 400 bucks.

@@autopurlieu the clock spring goes out a lot too as they were part of a recall. I didn’t fall under the recall and did it myself in under an hour. You’d probably do it faster and could make a video about it. Thanks again, just subbed to the channel. You deserve the views.

The only thing missing, that i like a video to have, is a list in the video description of all tools/bits that are needed. For me, it just makes it so much easier to know if i have all the tools i need or if i need to buy anything. Especially since I'm no mechanic and dont have a shop full of tools. Not everyone has an extensive tool collection and are doing repairs to save money in these expensive days we live in. Otherwise great video and thank you for not being like a lot of other videos where they talk an hour about stuff that has nothing to do with the video or trying to throw in long stories. Seems a lot of ppl try to put way to much personslity into the video and double the watch time. Drives me nuts

Just fixed my daughter's car. Tips: 1) Getting the fuse box out of the way give you more room and isn't hard to disconnect/reconnect. 2) After getting the "nose" of the steering column into the square hole above the log 14mm bolt, putting the two 12mm bolts in place loosely keeps the steering column in place. After pushing the long 14mm bolt into place, lowering the tilt-telescope level gives some play for getting the 14mm bolt threads to engage with the captured nut.

I have a similar issue with my 2016 Santa fe. The steering does have a little clicking sound when turning, but the most annoying is the vibrations at low speed on small bumps. The vibrations are felt in the steering wheel and the left side of the car. There needs to be a class action lawsuit for this issue. It is happing far too often and makes driving quite dangerous. My 2013 Hyundai Elantra has this issue and I’m fixing it this week. There is a chemical reaction happening between the lubricant in the motor or assembly and the coupling washer. Clearly the engineers didn’t evaluate the rubber material or the lubricants used in the motor or the vendors may not have been supplying the correct material. It probably should be Viton. The coupler on mine was as soft as chewing gum and had to be scraped/brushed out of the housing.

Could that part be causing the car to pull right by itself when I release the steering wheel for a moment? my i30 is doing that with summer and winter tires plus it got checked by the official Hyundai service center and several other service centers and what they did is they replaced one bearing and all bushings plus they reset the wheel sensor, but the problem remains. Жыл бұрын

@autopurlieu yes I disconnected the battery first. The only connector I haven't replaced is the airbag. I'm 6'6 and I couldn't physically access the area under the steering column with it still connected. When I was removing the 12 mm bolts that hold up the steering column, the tilt lever came apart and I'm not sure how the lever, 2 washers, the metal tension thing that's got that hook shape and the weird black plastic w/silver pieces washer shaped thing were put together. So I haven't reconnected it yet. I tried to find a schematic or something to shoe me but I couldn't find anything online. I was up until 5 am working on it and now I'm gonna hit the auto parts store and hope someone there knows how it goes together. That lever being off, when I was trying to position the column to reinsert that long 14 mm bolt, caused me to inadvertently pull the steering wheel and top portion of the column completely out of the bottom half column. I quickly got it back together and finally got the long bolt back in. After that, everything went quickly and easy with the exception of the tilt lever
