    Scotty Kilmer so i had my power steering pump replaced because of a high piched whining..1 month later it is now whining when it wants to but the tone of the noise is much deeper. The mechanic says it will do it again if he replaces it which is obviously an argument for him to get out of doing it. Could there be another reason why i would hear the noise. Oh and yes it is full of fluid and its a 2007 ford focus

He won’t say it but I think he’s impressed when his mama knows a thing or two about cars which I’ve mainly learned from your KZread videos! Right now he has a 2005 z71 Tahoe I got him for his 16th birthday that started making a sound when turning at low speeds. I told him to check his power steering fluid and that was the problem :) we’ve also repaired the antenna, the gauge cluster dimmer switch, oil changes, and the fog light button that was broken all DIY

ONLY when the back end drops as in when i go over a speed bump or a deep pothole. the trunk is completely empty but i have a feeling its the shock? would i be able to hear a shock squeak inside the car?

  • @Abdu86x

    @Abdu86x

    4 жыл бұрын

    Measure the pressure of the pump by pressure gage. And turn the wheel end to end while its running and reading is ok then pressure switch is fine. More check bypass by close to the gage valve for 4 seconds if pressure go high its bypass valve issue. If pressure go low the bypass switch works.

    Hi Scotty love your videos! So my 98 Camry the rack and pinion was leaking. I replaced it with a remanufactured part over the weekend. It went well and I have no leaks but I have a question about turning the wheel all the way to the stops. If I go all the way either left or right I hear a squealing sound. There's a lot of confusion on the internet what this could be a loose belt a faulty failing pump? Kind of hoping you can clear this up! Other than going to the complete left to right the new rack is working beautifully.

    Hey Scotty! I recently hit a curb in the snow with my 2005 Acura TL. Turned right into a small road at 15-20km/h and all the impact slammed into my left driver wheel. I need to get the entire suspension replaced on the left driver side but something strange also happened with my Power steering pump. I jacked up the car when I got home and turned the steering from one side to the other. I can hear gushing sounds from my car and my brother told me that fluid was leaking out the top of the cap. (With the cap ON) After a while, the liquid stopped leaking and when I checked the levels, it was exactly on the "upper" mark with the steering straight. What exactly happened here? My steering feels a bit looser. Easier to turn the wheel. Feels like a new hyundai santa fe in comfort steering mode but I know it should be like that lol. Thanks in advance,

    Yeah I drove 2 hours out to a junkyard that had a manual TL left side suspension. They're rare to find in Toronto. Replaced the suspension today and the car feels better. Power steering isn't grinding or leaking anymore when doing a full turn. Unfortunately the ABS on the junkyard part was busted so I'm trying without traction control... Mechanic also told me the subframe was cracked a little too which is bad news. I really don't want to spend $1000s+ to fix the subframe if it's drivable. Are there any risks to driving with the subframe a little cracked?

    Well, you can go back to a metal junk yard and get a good piece of steel and weld it :). Scotty has a video on welding so go and watch that.

    First thing my dad reprimanded us (my twin and I), for! Always put a jack stand under the car and let the car down on it! Had a dear friend lose his life because he did not use anything but a jack to hold the car up! His wife found him dead, under the car that had fallen off of the jack!

    Hey Scotty, I have a 2018 ram 2500. Every now and then I’m getting a whistle noise near the driver side of the truck. On this side of the truck is the steering gear box and power steering pump. I noticed that the whistle noise goes away when the steering wheel is turned but returns when steering is returned to straight. Thoughts. This occurs even when in park

    I have a 2003 Ford Explorer that was making more of a rubbing sound. this continued for a couple of months when I finally decided to open up the hood and check my reservoirs. It turned out that my power steering reservoir was only about a quarter full so I went to O'Reilly's and bought a $4 bottle of power steering fluid and put it in. It immediately stopped the noise so I am very grateful it wasn't very expensive to get fixed. the reason I am making a comment is because those power steering problem does not necessarily have to be a whining noise. Mine was more of a rubbing sound so I hope this helps someone. Thank you for your good video.

    Another helpful video. Quick question Scotty, my steering wheel is a full half turn to the left with the wheels lined up straight. Its not alignment because the front wheels are not worn on one side. Steering makes a popping sound when i turn either direction. Is it a tie rod or steering column, ....? Also is there any easy way to check if its a tie rod, 1996 chrysler concord. Thank you

    Hey mr. Scotty I have an 08 GMC Sierra that when I turn it to the left or right I get this creaking noise. I got up under my truck that is lifted and my wife turned the wheel, and it sounds like it’s coming from the rack and pinion. Should I replace it or is there a cheaper fix?

    Hello Scottie quick question, I did a complete flush on my power steering system on my 2005 GMC Sierra, I replaced it with the oil from Chevy dealer per the owners manual, but now it makes the grinding noise like in your video and didn't do it before the flush. Could it still be the switch? Thanks & great videos

    Scotty, do power steering leak stop products work? My son's Honda is starting what appears to be leaking from the power steering pump seal. No obvious loss of PS fluid at the reservoir, or any leaks on the garage floor, but I changed the oil the other day, and there is oil around the bottom of the power steering pump.

When it started, the power steering wheel feel lose, I can do more turn on the steering wheel without turning the car. Do you think the "intermedia shaft", "rack and bushing" or "rack and pionon" is going bad.

The steering is stiff when the car starts from cold, but once the car is warmed up it’s ok. And thank you for your help if you can see this.
