Greetings. I am the owner of a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu 9, after the vacuum pump broke down and was replaced, errors P0014, P0017 occurred. The engine starts very poorly after numerous attempts and runs poorly. Does it make sense to open and look at phase regulators and tags? I checked the intake and exhaust valves - they work. Engine 1.5 turbo, mileage 109,000 km.

I believe that fault codes alone do not pinpoint the issue. You need to be looking at "live data" and seeing what the engine computer is seeing in real time from all sensors. You need to understand what you're looking at too as it's quite complex.

My 2016 Kia Sportage has the this P0014 code. Just had it tuned up. No rough idling, no hard starts and no engine stalls. Runs smooth. The engine light came back on on the way home from the shop I use. I guess I’ll change the oil and see if that helps. If not it’s on too the valve. It’s just weird that my car has none of these issues for a P0014 code

@@nondainc Yes this is the only code I’m getting. Cleaned the exhaust vvt and checked the maf sensor (didn’t clean it but it looked fine). Maybe just a wiring issue? Don’t have too much knowledge on using a wiring diagram). Ppl have suggested cleaning the oil/ engine oil flush but I just recently changed oil and transmission fluid (About 250-500miles ago). The reason I even have p0014 was because of this surprisingly. When I did my oil change and transmission fluid change, I didn't screw in the engine oil pan bolt in all the way which made it leak and I didn't notice until the engine started misfiring and sounding like a truck. When I checked the engine oil, It was ALMOST completely empty. I then redrained and refilled oil and replaced the exhaust vvt from the p0014 code I also got from the check engine light. So oil is pretty new (I don't think an oil flush would do anything considering I changed it twice)

So you ran your engine out of oil because it wasn't changed properly? I'm sorry, but I'm going to be blunt.....youtube videos give a false sense of confidence to people who really shouldn't attempt fixing their cars themselves. You more than likely caused damage that will at least drastically shorten the life of your engine and by the the sounds of your symptoms your engine is basically internally scored up and metal if flowing through the system. How much did you save changing your own oil??? And what did it cost you? My advice is to find a professional honest mechanic that has proven himself and build a working relationship with him. First step of a youtube scam is divide and conquer to shake loose the trust in a mechanic. (find one that has proven himself to be trustworthy). Then the next step is to sell some gadget with the false promise that it will replace years of diligent studying and experience. Your car is a prime example of results of trusting "youtube certified" advice.

@@williamdujkasr3665 I'm not sure if I understand your first sentence but I'll try to answer your questions. Long story short I have made a mistake of running my car with VERY low oil (oil cap wasn't screwed in correctly, I have learned a lesson from this). After driving for a while and checking the car and codes, I found out that I had a p0014 code and the oil cap wasn't closed properly when I initially did oil change. I basically emptied the remaining oil that was inside (it wasn't completely empty but there was very small left) and refilled the oil. And I also replaced the corresponding solenoid to the codes but haven't had luck in it. (Found out that the solenoid's wasn't the problem). I understand the amount of damage my mistake of running my car without oil could possibly have in my car and I did more research and found that I may have jumped the time chain in my car possibly which could throw some p000 codes. I was forced to take it to a nearby Chevy dealership which I payed for a diagnostic fee and from first site of starting the engine, one of the mechanics said he could hear the time chain being jumped from the sounds the car makes at startup. So they replaced the timing chain and other stuff (water pump, tensioner, gears.) with kits and oem parts I bought from ACDelco and Cloyes myself and gave to them. This fixed my problem as I never gotten codes since then. This whole process took months as I am a low income student and had to work full time on my breaks to make up for my mistake that I have only myself to blame. To answer your question about oil I have always have been changing my own oil so I only pay for the oil itself (Around $23 but I usually buy oils in packs and stock up in my house so its cheaper). I have learned from my mistake about normally just closing the oil plug with just pliers and went an bought an actual wrench that designed for oil plugs that has the exact torque specifications to close my oil plug so it doesn't be too loose to leak or too tight to break. I am in a much better situation financially now than before so now I would just rather pay for an oil change service ($40) than do it myself but I have learned a lot of things about my car and how it was designed through other things I have encountered since then and I am very grateful that my mistake wasn't the end of my car's life and that I can move on learning a few lessons.

The P0304 is misfire in cylinder #4. Only 5 things can cause it. Bad spark plug, bad coil, bad fuel injector, low compression pressure, or faulty wiring for ignition coils and injectors. Start with easiest. First remove spark plug and do compression check, install new spark plug, then coil then injector then wiring. You can swap coils and injectors to troubleshoot. Swap coil #4 with coil #3. If after swapping coils you get P0303, you now know the coil that was in cylinder #4 is bad. Do same with injectors 3 & 4 if necessary. Good luck and let us know what fixed it please.

Few noticeable issues: 1. Rattling noise in the engine on and off 2. Check engine light 3. Hard starting the car 4.

We suggest to double check if there's any other trouble code that registers along with this code.

@@DuncanMiano try cleaning your vvt valves with throttle body cleaner and changing your oil hopefully that will do the truck , also clear the check engine light with a obd scanner after you finish.
