I always had to wash my hair everyday because it was so oily and my scalp would itch so bad from all the oil if i tried to go more than 2 days without washing. But now i can go 4 days before i need a wash and i could even go more if i wanted! I have fine hair and all of his product recommendations and techniques have been life changing. My boyfriend even comented on how much nicer my hair was looking without knowing i changed products! And the frizz is way more manageable again amazing man doung amazing work

"Every bit of it is so true" - not at all... the theory of "hydrating" or "retainibg moisture" in "dry" hair is completely unscientific, because most of the time it's the dry hair having more actual water than the healthy looking hair. What you need is not moisture or hydration or water, but oils (and possibly other things). His routine might very well work though. I'm even more suspicious towards the solution for oily hair though. If you wash your hair and look at the roots and it's clean with no oil, how come it's "not clean enough"? Where is that oil hiding? Especially if the problem is a lot of oil one day later. I don't know who would this advice help, how often people don't clean their heads enough and not notice it? Also I've had badly washed hair before and it was just spots of noticeably oily hair (where the shampoo didn't get) instead of full head being a little oily. I do consider my habit of washing hair always twice as paranoia and not a requirement in most cases. And the "drugstore shampoos only mask the smell" is simply untrue. Sure, they might have way too much fragrance, and too much bubble-making stuff, but other than that they do contain soap-like stuff to actually clean it. Otherwise washing with just water would give you the same results (you gotta use soap or something similar to get rid of oil completely; it's like just rinsing an oily dish, there is a little film of oil left, that's not what happens when using a drugstore shampoo). And since all of his other advice for oily hair is "don't use heavy products" it's useless for people who do wash their hair thoroughly and not use any products. So... I'm suspicious of his advice altogether.

    Жыл бұрын

@@jennifermcdaniel3910 He's just talking about an abused term... he's actually right about moisture, you don't want it at all in your hair, moisture is damaging it. But it is a widely used term in a misleading way... What he's saying is that the author of the video is right about the routine, but using the misleading term moisturizing... We've been fed that damaged hair are dried hair, so when some says dry hair, we see exactly the kind of visual state it refers to, same for moisturizing. This state of affair is such because of marketing... because in the collective mind, moisturized = healthy, good, while dried = unhealthy, bad, and now this is self sustained misconception. But explains some people struggle having good results while trying to retain water in their hair. So while the channel author gives really great advices, just keep in mind that you don't want water in your hair, except when washing them. Of course it is innevitable when swimming, doesn't make it good for the hair nevertheless. This also gives more sense to the weakness of hair when wet. The goal of conditionner and oils is to seal those opened scales (damaged hair). Fermentedd rice water with pomello skin is very acidic, and acidity closes hair scales, which is one of the reason why people see better looking hair using it. Though you wouldn't want do it each and every time, nor leaving in acidic solution on your mids and ends, even less on your scalp. You actually should swap to the routine described in the video. See the acidic solution (can be vinegar) as a seldom boost (that you have to rince right away).

This is what I do since two or three months 'cause I thought of it really hard because nothing ever helped with my hair. It also helps when I cut my split ends by myself sometimes, like every month one or two times (I bought a pair of scissors and made sure it was sharp enough to not make them into new split ends). And it's also really helpful if you sleep on something that let's your hair slide over it a little more, like silky material. I knew that before but I really experienced it when I slept on my jacket, the inside was like that and my hair felt so much healthier and better than I expected, that made me feel so much better.

I had this problem too. What helped me the most tho is the washing technique. I shampoo twice but only on the scalp (but that very thoroughly), leaving out the ends. After rinsing, I apply conditioner only to the ends and leave it there for a few minutes. After rinsing, I let my hair air dry and dont put anything else on it. When sleeping, I braid it; this helps alot with frizz, tangles, breaking ends etc. Bonus: brushing in the morning is sooo easy plus you have nice waves.

Two things a lot of us do wrong so it doesn‘t matter how clean our scalp and hair is, it will get oily again often before it is even dry: - Using hair tools that have old oils on it. If you wash your hair, wash your comb too ;) - Touching your hair with your hands that have rests of skin care products on it or running through it too often with the fingers (with natural oils on).

Omg. I feel sooo dim! Every time I watch lights go off in my head like a strobe light. Amazing.! So relieved I found you. Makes perfect sense. Another reason some may be so lost is, as children and young adults, our hair was as protected as a suit of amour. I’m way late in thinking about hair. I thought it was the product (and some is, like drug store shampoo). Products don’t take care of my hair! I do with the right needs for my hair. Kinda cheers me up. I have more control to have healthy hair rather than the marketers.

hi! i'm just speaking from experience. my hair is crusty af but it grows fast but it's always dry and frizzy. i never knew the importance of conditioner cuz i too lazy to apply . but i noticed leave in conditioner makes my hair silkier than air dry creams. air dry creams not moisturizing enough but it adds shine and smoothing. i would use leave in conditioner first then add air dry cream.

In my experience the solution to not 100% effective shampoo is chelating my hair. I use an ACV rinse once every two months when I notice my hair not absorbing conditioner very well. I’ve tried many different brands of expensive shampoo but honestly the one that I like the most is OGX tea tree and mint because it’s the only one that enables me to go three days without washing my hair. Even still, my hair gets build up from my heavy conditioner and oil masks

This video really resonated with me, because as you said, my hair was fine no matter what I did to it when I was younger. so I thought I was all good, but as I've gotten older it's been horrible with my oily top and super dry ends, I did try conditioner but no leave in conditioner, so I was so blown away by this video and I binged a lot of your other videos also!! Even got the product list etc, so I did end up purchasing some NEW stuff, also the brands you recommended, Redken and Pureology, are available where I live which is in in Aotearoa New Zealand - a lot of brands/products are either super expensive to get shipped here, not available for sale here we have to use a third party, or the conversion from Euros or USD are massive comparison to our NZD, so I felt like this video had so many good elements that made it really easy for me to go out and purchase products :D it's the Christmas/New Years holidays here so things will be slower than normal but I can't wait, YES I did watch the Shampoo Kung Fu video ;) I'm also trying to remember the workout hair wash video's as well, I mean that's the other thing, you have videos that make sense, like morning routine, what to do after you have a shower. Maybe I haven't watched ALL your videos but I have watched a lot, but when you AREN'T washing your hair but you are having a shower, can you still get your hair wet without washing it? My brain is telling me, probably not because I might wash out the leave in conditioner, however my brain says a lot of things and it's wrong soooo...would like a video around that, what to do with your hair on non-wash days......I bet you have already done a video no this haven't you? I will go back and have a look!!

How do you feel about prose (the custom hair care company)? I have noticed a difference in my hair texture but my hair still has the same oiliness from when I was using purology. I just want to make sure it is good because I know companies like function of beauty aren't the best but I've heard really great things about Prose and I do think it is making my hair healthier!

You need to hydrate your scalp. That was a game changer for me. You need to wet your scalps and put some hyaluron acid directly on your scalp (not ur hair) and massage it in for a few minutes. Then u need to wait 20-30 Minutes and you can take a shower :)

Hi love your content :) Could really use your help with something. What's your advice on washing hair for people who exercise regularly and work up a sweat? Do you still recommend every 3 days? Some sites say sweat is like a salt water wash for your hair, others say it can breed bacteria and lead to fungal acne. Is this an exception to the 3 day rule? Thanks for the great hair advice

Girls PLEASE listen. The oil on your scalp is specific for your hair type and it is supposed to be the layer to protect your hair. Make sure you move that oil from the top to the bottom, because your hair gets the most dry at the bottom. I tried everything, products ruined my hair. The only time my hair was healthy is when my mother used to care for it washing it once a week and putting it in a braid. Other factors that damaged my hair was dying it and using different products and shampoos throughout the years. My hair got a little better after I left it alone, but thats just the baby hairs on to for now. I miss my healthy long hair..

Please do a hair care video on in-between washings - maybe focusing especially on dry frizz prone hair? Speaking of Olaplex, why am I hearing/reading that there are women complaining of losing their hair? That’s not good. If one already has thin hair, that’s the last thing that they want to see happen. I’m not sure if the company is being sued just on the hot seat. Have there been recalls? I’m not sure about that either. Recalls are a joke when we’ve heard so much bad about a yard product called Round Up, and the see all those bottles on the shelves at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, et cetera.

I've had the joy of switching between oily and normal skin within a short period of time. When my skin was normal, I could go 4 days with my hair being clean enough to wear loose. Irrelevant of the shampoo that I used. When my skin got oily (hormones) then my hair was looking greasy the next evening. Irrelevant of the shampoo that I used. Irrelevant of whether I lathered once or twice. It's normalising again now. How oily hair is depends on your skin, not your shampoo, generally. Cosmetic chemists have confirmed that there are immaterial functional differences between different kinds of shampoos and consumer and pro lines. Sulfate free shampoos will always clean worse, but overall, it doesn't matter how much you pay for your bottle.
