I'm 61 , been doing PDR for almost 30 years, absolutely love my business but stay away from hail jobs, good way to blow out your shoulder and wrists and eyes.

I use to worry about my shoulders on hail until I got a proper hail rod. Went through a couple until I finally spent the money on the CarbonTech rod. It IS NOT CHEAP BUT WILL PAY FOR ITSELF AS SOON AS U PICK IT UP AT FULL LENGTH [just over 7’) with a R4 cherry tip and a sharp finishing tip on it and i weighs 3.8 lbs. Any tech considering a rod, JUST SPEND THE MONEY AND GO FOR IT. The have whale tail extensions for it now too AND CAN MAKE IT A POGO SICK!

@WipeOutPDR with proper leverage, your body can handle it till you fall over dead. A big part of aging is just a mental game.

It's from Ultra Dent Tools. It's a well-made stand, light weight, and very adjustable.

Question: My fiance's 2022 Mustang GT got severly hail damaged the other day. The roof has at least 40 dents, hood is at least 50, trunk another 50+. My insurance is saying they can easily PDR 300+ dents on the roof with no issues. I thought there was a limit on PDR vs R&R per panel. What is the common practice?

Thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear about the hail Damage on your car. But yes as long as there is no paint broken or major dents pdr can be done on that. Obviously would need to see the car in person to assess it but should be able to be fixed with pdr. I have done some suv roofs with 1000+ dents on it alone. Usually body shops have a pdr guy working for them and should be able to help. Thanks again

Very interesting video. Was wondering what part of the job is in just getting access to the dents. More than 25%? And is that the more difficult part of the job? Thanks.

Getting access to the dents is really the most important part and the hardest part. If you can get a good tool to touch the dent, the rest is easy. Hail dents are usually nice dents to work on unless it's an extremely bad hit. Thanks

@@WipeOutPDR Thanks for the reply, now i know why insurance companies will total a vehicle with this damage, which is unfortunate as there is no drivability issue.

I didn't really like the metal on this one. It felt too thin and tinny. Just felt like I was fighting going in-between a rubber tip and metal tip the whole time. Got it done though haha. Thanks for watching!
