I love that comment “not on 10…CrossFitters”… I was upping to 9, and preparing for 10 to power drive the stroke. Now I have gone to basics of catch and release, leg drive and hips open. Thank you!

Interesting comment on Sinek slight early arm bend. See Drysdale, who won that race famously by 0.0000001s, in the background by comparison: No early arm bend. Drysdale has always had a long straight arm drive.

I think there’s an alternative view that some people go against classic straight arms and instead emphasise pulling down in at the lats, a lot of the irish team do this , you can see Paul and Phil twist their grip in the drive to do this and you can see its part of how they operate their stroke But I suppose this is nitty gritty stuff and less beginner/inter rowing tips

Nice straight arm early drive on the erg. I think you’ll find turning the elbows down during straight arm phase, vs elbows out, will give more connection to the lats.

Do you mean having straight or locked out arms? I find that when I lock out my arms it puts a lot of pressure on my elbow.

When you're doing the legs only drill, are you also incorporating that scap/lat retraction when you're driving with the legs?

Yes absolutely. It's much less prominent than in the scap retraction exercise but that small movement of engagement can make all the difference.

Isn’t that a British style of rowing leaning so incredibly far back? The Norwegian does not do that. Kindly request how to row with short legs and long torso please?

I wouldn't say it is explicitly a British style as looking at other Norwegian crews like the LW2x of Brun and Stradli, the legendary Olaf Tufte and many other international styles, they still have an appropriate lean back. Is more a signature style of Kjetil. Yep will add to the list.
