    Your video was very helpful - thanks! I did still stumble at three points. I had a different style trim, requiring an entirely different disassembly procedure. The handle had no visible screws, even efter prying off the cover strip. I eventually discovered a rubber plug on eht bottom. Digging that out revealed an Allen screw. The round cover plate also had no visible screws, and prying didn't work. Rotating to the left by a tenth of a turn let it come free. You had mentioned turning the water off, which I had done - and even opened faucets nearby and on a lower floor, to ensure there was no pressure remaining. Howevr, when I loosened one of those last four screws, I did get some water down inside the wall. Of course, it came from the pipe between the valve and the shower head. I could have either stuffed a towel in there to catch it, or else opened the valve to let it drain out before disassembling the valve, but I hadn't thought of it nor had you mentioned it.

    I have a shower with Grohe single handle pressure balance valve. Recently, it started dripping. I got the exact replacement valve and installed it per this video. With the valve shut off completely, I opened the cold water line -- no dripping. Then I opened the hot water line, and it was dripping just as before. Is there anything BESIDES the mixing valve that could be causing this dripping?

    hey i'm hoping you can help me out. I am going to be doing this exact repair on my shower, but I got another issue on top of it. My shower valve is leaking from the shut offs on the side (hot side). Is there a way to replace the O-Rings or something here? It's leaking right next to the flathead screw which tells me that O-ring is shot

    A thousand thanks! I just did this all by myself- but you were with me the whole way. There is just the tiniest little drip left coming from the tub spout. I assume this is just due to the fixture being 25+years old?

    Can I get your advice? I had a plumber replave the shower valves and overflow plate. Now the tub won't hold water. I tried to adjust it but it didn't help. I called him back, he adjusted it, and it still leaks out. Any advice?

  • @How2Plumb

    On the overflow plate if you take it out pull off the overflow plate and there’s a linkage that is attached to a brass stopper. That linkage needs to be adjusted so the brass stopper is a little bit lower. It may take some back-and-forth a few times to get it perfect.

    This was a great help in showing how to replace the cartridge, but now I have water that leaks out the front of the brass cover when the valve is turned. It seems there should be a washer or something in there. There is the white plastic ring inside the brass cover and this apparently is supposed to be snug enough to prevent water from coming out the front, but it's not. When the handle turns the valve, there's enough play where water leaks out the front and then that goes down inside the wall. Bad news. Guess I'm going back to the plumbing supply store to see if I can get a replacement front cover.

    @@Laroux52 Yes, it turns out that the new cartridge has a slightly smaller "stem". I had to buy a replacement valve cover and trim set. Grohe part #47343550 was $100 on FaucetDirect. After I installed these parts, all was good. Good luck!

    My question is does the small O-ring go under the little brass stop plate or does it go on top of it, Do you put the O-Ring before the stop plate?

  • @haydnhawthorne1509

    @haydnhawthorne1509

    I just had to figure this one out… o ring goes over the stem, pushed all the way in to the smooth part closest to the valve. Does not go on the knotched teeth part, push it in farther. When the next part goes in over top they create a tight seal. I broke that tiny o ring having to figure this out the hard way! Hope this helps. It goes in before you ever get to the stop plate and even before cover plate goes on. Atleast for my version it did

    There are several different Grohe cartridges . There should be just one screw or Allen screw that holds the handle in place that needs to be tightened.
