How to fix a heat pump that is stuck on heat
Fixing a heat pump is dangerous. This is what I did. I do not recommend doing this your self in any way. I was hot and not in my brain was malfunctioning.
With that out off the way. It was rather easy fix. I was able to switch my heat to cold. I will show you what I know about the issue.

There is an additive for the refrigerant called Subco 88 that will lubricate the reversing valve. Old school hvac technicians will know what it is. If your valve is still sticking you can add that to keep it running smoothly. It works with most refrigerant types.
It's a reversing valve. If you have changed your thermostat you may not have it configured properly.
Did you ever find out if it was the reversing valve or the solenoid that went bad?
Lol... if you remove the whatchamacallit and reverse the doohickey that thingamajig will start working!
