How to fix a Chrysler speedometer

Комедия

Hello you tube Colin here, I am going to walk you through fixing your speedometer in your Dodge, Chrysler or ram Van. I was driving through a construction zone, slowed down to what felt like 25 MPH and looked down in horror to see that my speedometer was spun all the way around and stuck under the pin the the needle rests on when the car is off or not moving. As you could guess it was a WTF moment. I drove all day worrying would get a ticket... Back to the steps to take to fix it. Or what to do before you go to a dealer.
WARNING THIS MAY CLEAR YOUR TRIP ODOMETER AND MAY NOT FIX YOUR PROBLEM CONSULT YOUR OWNERS MANUAL AND MAKE SURE OF THE MAKE, YEAR AND MODEL OF VAN THAT YOU HAVE. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE PRIOR OR AFTER THIS PROCEDURE IS DONE.
Step 1. Get in the vehicle close the door Turn on you ignition
Step 2. Note your trip odometer mileage be sure to write this down remember that you can deduct mileage you drive on taxes (depending on local, state and federal laws where you live)
Step 3. This one is very important it is the most important step of them all press the button that resets the trip mileage so it displays the Total mileage on the vehicle.
Step 4. Turn off the vehicle and take the key out of your ignition
Step 5. Your almost done press and hold the trip odometer reset button until it displays a code let go and let the calibration Finnish I tested the fix today it does work. Don't worry when you see all of the lights flashing and the needles moving through our the cluster. Do not open the door while this is in progress I don't know if it will effect it

    What more can I say. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Just had the van pass inspection yesterday drove home all was well. This morning the speedometer was not working. Worried while driving about getting a speeding ticket. My mechanic just started vacation, auto parts store implied it was likely a fuse, owners manual no help. God bless you!

    OMG!!! This was so easy. My mechanic was ready to charge me $400 to $500 to repair my speedometer. Tried this on my 2001 Chrysler Town & Country and after a couple of attempts it worked exactly as you said. Plus, I did not lose the odometer mileage. It zeroed out, but came back to correct number. You saved me a ton of money on such an easy fix. Thank you!!!

    Hi I wanted to let you know that the same thing happened to me, in a 2001 dodge grand caravan sport. I talked to 5 different mechanics and NONE of them knew of this solution - Thank you so much - Your Grrrreeat!!!

    +Brian Dell You are very welcome I am glad to hear you were able to fix this without paying an arm and a leg. From what I have found the cause of this is. Sometimes when the vehicle starts the needles jump. Why I do not know. the needle sometime gets wrapped up too tight and launches all the way around for lack of a better way to put it. Now you know something mechanics will try and do and sell you on a "Fancy computer program"

  • @annoythedonkey

    @annoythedonkey

    9 жыл бұрын

    the bounce is because its re-calibrating if your tachometer ans speedometer bounce while driving it likely mean you need a new cluster if it does not fix the issue after going through the re-calibration
