I love throwing a donkey rig with the 3in fat senkos. I'm casting to the edge of 20 ft circumference shad balls at what I think is about 5 to 15 ft away from the shad ball letting the two baits kind of flutter to the bottom then pop pop flutter to the bottom pop pop fluter to the bottom. What a blast! ...I used to always pull out a top water as soon as I saw any kind of blow up around the shad spawn and I would catch one here and there but i catch much more using a small soft plastic jerkbait or even a spinnerbait during the shad spawn. It always seems to me that when they hit my top water during the shad spawn they're trying to injure the shad first then eat them. A lot like stripers do.

Excellent. Couldn't find the predatory fish on the shad this year and I went early and often. Looked forward to it since crushing them the last 3 years.
