How to fish a Carolina Rig (How to rig a Carolina Rig)

Спорт

Buddy of mine go out to a local lake and fish Carolina Rigs. I gave tips and tricks and how to throw one, what baits I use, and the equipment I use. The video show us catching fish then I explain a lot of what we are doing in between fish catches.

    I’m fairly new to bass fishing and I’ve never had an issue with hooking fish with treble hooks but this information has saved me so much learning time in realizing why I was loosing so many fish in Texas rig style hooks/baits. Thank You!!!

    Back in about 92 my dad, uncle, and i tossed out our C-rigs off herman's hole on Toledo at the same time to start our annual trip. Each of us were using chartreuse pepper french fries. We ended up with a triple on our first cast! Mine was last to come up. As it pulled drag i was dreaming of a 10 pounder for the wall. Then my dad's face changed and his ready stance with the net relaxed. When i looked down again there she was, a big ol damn GOU! It was an easy 10 pounder and made a good Court-bouillon, but i was heart broken, LOL. I will never forget that.

    I throw the C-Rig a lot, I always told my friends when fishing it that it’s best to reel until you feel the weight of the fish and then set the hook, that’s the best way I could think of to explain it to them anyway 😂 great tips on the C-Rig man and as always, really good content.

    I did a study on C-rig, watching bass from the back of my boat on my underwater camara. Wile partner was running the pole from the front. You would be amazed how many followers at one time watch the bait as it moves. Some game changing changes to the rig results found in study.

    When I rig up a Carolina rig I do the order a little differently. I slide the weight on the main line and then put on the clacker. Then I tie the leader line on to the swivel using a palomar knot. Then I tie the other end of the swivel to the main line because when you do that all you have left to tie on is the hook. At this point I reel up the weight to the tip of the rod and have the leader line hang down by the rod and it is then that I will determine what length leader I want and then tie the hook on. Paul Elias said in one of his video's that he did a lot of experimenting with leader length and decided on having your bait hang between the last two guides on your rod, no matter what rod length you choose 7ft 3in or longer. He said that length worked best for him. I do the same with my standard C- rig but I also have what I call my "finesse C rig" and I use a 3/8 weight and a shorter leader, about 2ft - 2.5ft in length on that one.

    Fluoro 100% of the time. Longer rod for hook sets. Its a sweeping action not a traditional fast hookset so you want a longer rod 7'6 and it makes it easier to cast.

    @toddcastledinefishing5924

    12 months for sure I can promise you I always have one tied on. It definitely shines certain times of the year, however some of the reason is that I prefer to do other things those times of the year. Example, when there on beds I'd rather sight fish, however if its dirty and I can't you can still throw one shallow and I've caught them that way. I crushed them in pad stems in 2 foot of water on Ross Barnett like that. So there is always an application for it.
