How to Find Your Passion (And Why It's OK to Not Have One)

"I wish I had a hobby, passion or side hustle". If you've thought this, but haven't been able to figure out what it would be, then this video is for you. Perhaps you've also had a few ideas but haven't been able to narrow it down, I know I'm guilty of that. So I'm also going to dive into the complexities of self-discovery, and also some great questions you can ask yourself to unlock what your passions are, narrow things down, and find ways to implement them into your daily life.

Noah I feel you're me but with motivation and clarity LOL. You're literally my twin lol. Thanks for the introspection on this Thursday morning. Think I am going to go buy a gimbal and start making something! I love tech so much! Gaming! Movies! The fact that I don't HAVE to zero in on any of it to have a channel or to share who I am is so freeing. Also, please take me to Japan LOL. It's a legit #1 bucket list item.

So. What do you want to be when you grow up? 🤪 j/k of course. If you asked me a year or so ago I would have said I have very little I'm interested in, mainly due to lack of time and motivation. I am not sure what happened this year but I find myself in a completely opposite frame of mind. Life factors can cause you to ebb and flow like this. Timing isn't always right. I almost have too many things I'm interested in now, which is causing me to lose focus on what I want to focus on for my own channel. It's nice to see you coming to that realization and creating new videos about it. I think this video is extremely motivating and I truly hope more people find it because I feel a lot of people will learn from your great advice. As for "niching down" (something you mentioned early on), I think that's horrible advice (as you know) as you are setting yourself up for a grind you don't ever want. You may be into, say, reviewing electric bikes because you find them fascinating and have a few. You want more, so your channel becomes all about them. But then that's all your audience wants from you. If you post a review about your van life, your subscribers will walk. You surely don't want to post reviews of electric bikes for the rest of your life, so don't. I did one such review and I was flooded with requests from manufacturers to do more. I still get them to this day. I refuse all of them. Post content that interests you, and vary it up. Your subscribers will want to follow you because they want to learn and experience new things through the excitement of your mind's eye. I've learned that through experience as well... if you are genuinely excited about the content you're posting, your viewers will see that and engage, share, and watch more. Don't be afraid about the subject matter you are excited to post about, and don't try to cater to any algorithm. nloop is on to something, here.

Wow what an incredible and thoughtful comment, thanks so much Chris! I agree with and appreciate everything you said. I get a lot of requests for reviewing stuff that has nothing to do with my channel as it has been, let alone where it’s going. So I am ignoring those in favor of sustainability. I’m gonna talk more about that and a lot of what you mentioned in my next video more in depth. I’m glad this year has offered more direction for your interests as well! Looking forward to seeing more stuff!
