Can a DBQ be updated? My brother had his C&P exam in April; I was with him. I know we talked about Diabetes and its various related impacts. The Diabetes DBQ could have been completed based his medical records. Whether or not they were I don't know. All I can tell is that there appears to have been 15 DBQs submitted to his claims file (from what I saw on his My VA portal.) Many of those secondary conditions are documented on his medical records. I recently requested a copy of the DBQs. If upon reviewing them I see that some conditions, which are clearly part of his medical record, are missing from the DBQ, what recourse does one have to correct the omission(s)?

I'm not understanding what you are trying to do. If he has had a C & P exam, the examiner will completed the DBQ, depending on what they decided, the VA will list the options in the notification letter. If you filed a Fully Developed Claim (FDC) initially and then submitted additional paperwork/claims after the fact, you put yourself in the back of the line again and removed your claim from the FDC program to a standard claim.

I guess I am missing the entire point of this video. You are showing areas of DBQs that need to be filled out for conditions (radiculopothy) and these boxes need to be checked and submitted by health care providers. Wouldn’t that actually be the “nexus?” Stating in the DBQ itself that the sciatica is directly related to the lower back?? Isn’t THAT a nexus?

Does anyone have any insight as to how the VA will process some claims? In the end of May, I filed two secondary claims and one increase. All three were assigned for a C&P. One, was an ACE, no appearance needed, just a medical review. The examiner did call me with a few questions. The second was a virtual meeting. Both DBQ’s were completed and show on my VA profile as received. The increase was also assigned for C&P but it isn’t scheduled for over another month away. Will they hold all three claims until all DBQ’s are received, or will they process and determine each to their own claim? I did call the VA and they really wouldn’t say how they will process them.

No one can say what each VA employee at each location will do. They have the option of granting one condition and deferring others if more development is needed but that will depend on the VA employee. It's not standard across the board. @@DewayneKimble I appreciate the reply. I was just wondering if there is a guidance or protocol that would dictate procedures how VA Rater’s process claims. Being a government agency, they’re usually full of documented procedures so there isn’t a Rater’s personal feelings adjudicating claims. Like a Rater’s Manual so to speak. Thanks again.
