You are spot on Sarge. It's extremely frowned on if you go on sick calls! I was 1st SOCOM Airborne and jump pay requirement are that you are active on jump status and jump every 90 days or less?! It's been 30 yrs and I can remember my First Sargent telling me that I was a strap hanger! Now my neck is killing me.

Paratrooper in the house.... So true. I went to a C&P examination and the doctor wrote something to the effect - it is not likely that her lower back injury/pain was caused by the military. I had handwritten medical documentation in my medical file which he completely overlooked. In all of a 5 minute exam he wrote a less than favorable statement in my file. Got denied by VA and had to file a higher level review clear and unmistakable evidence.

I was in the 82nd and 11B. I’m currently in denial hell right now. The C & P examiner diagnosed me with both TBI and depressive disorder. I have clear MRIs from outside doctors indicating the historical injury. Unfortunately, the denial is based on no reports while in service. I have buddy statements. Yes, it was a peer pressure culture. Anyone, who went to medical was referred to as a broke “D”. Being in the combat arms and in all male unit, it was common to receive the derogatory insults. It was an effective solution to less sick call, but that design isn’t helping my case. I struggle everyday with this impairment. Thanks for the video Sir!

I have the same situation. I was in 82nd, and was injured several times, all documented. One injury was from a parachute accident during a mass tac jump and had severe headaches actually written in my medical reports, along with broken bones, I have a copy of. The VA denied TBI because I was never actually diagnosed with TBI while active. This is the stupidest thing I ever saw....denied...?

I just won my VA disability claim last week after fighting them for over 2-years for Asthma as well as rhinitis with epistaxis, I never was around any burn pits, just Jet engine exhaust fumes etc, , I was in the air force as a jet mechanic on the C-141's and had very bad breathing as well as nose sinus issues all recorded while I was in the Air force, way back in 1965- to 1969. so to all of you old vets like me, it is NEVER too late to file a claim, but of course you must show 100% fully documented VA doctor as well as hospital medical records from your time in the service like I had from my C-Files to prove it was ALL service connected. BTW In my case at least, I did NOT need to have a nexus letter to prove any of this.

Just discovering your channel, I tried this, and just like you said, I had no proof of jumps, they did recognized that I completed jump school but I had no proof of jumps when I was at my unit. I had to show old LES's showing that I was receiving jump pay, which you can only get by making at least one jump every 90 days. They still denied my claim because like you, I was in a unit that frowned upon going to sick call, so I "sucked it up," sucks now.

I can tell you that as an Infantry Officer there was a tremendous amount of pressure not to EVER go on sick call. I dislocated my shoulder during one jump and broke my tail bone with a tree landing on a night jump and both times was told to suck it up and get out there and lead your men during the following field exercise. I got stitched up at least on three occasions in the field that I remember by our medic and to this day carry the scars of the shitty stitch job they did. (they were learning and in all cases but one the stitches didn't rip out so it's all good) but to the point that if that officer said no one tells you to suck it up and drive on, well he must have been that guy in the rear we always hear about.

Airborne/Air Assault/ Sapper Rough Terrain Paratrooper(only company in the US Military). Had over 20 jumps plus over 6 Rough Terrain jumps. Most of my neck injuries was from Rough Terrain Jumps. Using specialize gear to plow though the trees and getting hung up than repelling to the ground. Several injuries but being at FORT BRAGG its a no, no to go to sick call, plus if you went to sick call you more than likely loose your R/T slot and will be replaced and your position will be filled. I finally got my c5c6 fusion done. Been fighting claims since 2008. Hopefully before I die I will get my claims.

I filed for knee and back pain after my tour in Iraq (2005). I stated I was airborne infantry (11B) for 10 years at that point and it was declined. I have no medical records from when I was with the 82nd showing injury because going to sick call was not a good thing at all. I can verify that if we had gone to sick call in my units I served in, you were pretty much labeled a sh!* bag. I do have my jump log though showing all my jumps. I do have civilian documentation from the past couple years showing a lower back disc herniation though. Going to try to fight for it again i think.

My VA Med Center neurologist diagnosed Ménières syndrome and said the cause was combat. He said I should file a claim for 100% disability. Regarding being in combat, turns out my DD 214 in 1974 was filled out by an idiot yeoman (that's the Navy's version of a clerk or secretary). He didn't list ALL my valor awards, including the Combat Action Ribbon (a high precedence award). Side note: I know, I know, you are thinking "Why didn't you look over your DD214 and insist that clerk correct it, you fool." Well, I was concluding four years of service, one year in Vietnam, and I was 22 years old. At that age when sitting at the yeoman's desk all I was concerned about was how big a check I was getting because I had 30 days unused leave and final pay coming. Plus I was busy calculating how many minutes it would take to pass through the main gate, and debating in my mind "should I run, or would that look stupid, so I should walk." Anyway, when I filed my claim I was able to provide all kinds of detail on weapons used, combat operations, etc. I even had stat sheets on how many and type of missions we went on, firefight stats, etc. Alas, all my statements established was that I was perhaps a good fairy tale teller. Moreover, officially my file documented nothing about my being in actual combat. But fortunate for me, I have always been a pack rat. In my Vietnam scrap book, that I bought in Hong Kong for about two dollars, I had inserted a lot of military-related items. One item was a Memo from Commander Naval Forces Vietnam congratulating me on being awarded, drum roll please, the Combat Action Ribbon. The Memo had a lot of highfalutin military gobbledygook in it, so any reader would conclude it was genuine. End result: IMO that Memo and Combat Action Ribbon established my credibility, that what I was saying was true. I think that because the VA rated me 100% P & T within 8 weeks of filing my claim. I assume that was because, as you tell us, I sounded truthful and credible.

@@DewayneKimble the copy of his order and statement showing that he was award a certificate for successfully completing Air Assault training was located. That information has been added to his claims. He resubmit for his original denied claim and supplement secondary claims. Along with the 4138 and 1242 that was sent to him from VA. Also, my husband and I are trying to figure out why the 0845 keeps getting denied. I think that we should leave off American legion as the organization and just put my information.

Can you file a claim if your Mos was 11B and you didn't see combat.

My squad leader, platoon sergeant and first sergeant all frowned upon going to sick call about any ailments we had after a jumps. This is a good video and I’m taking notes because I loss my first claim while filing for my knees. 🪂

@@DewayneKimble yes. Of course they did. And ok I’m on it. I’m at 70% right now with my current claim in the decision phase. I suppose once I get the results I will need more info on what to do next. Thanks.

@@QuDotG34 any luck on getting rated for jump status injuries? Reading these comments, I haven't seen anyone get connected this way. @Dewaynekimble, any positive feedback or testimonials you can share? I have C and P coming up. I explained in 4138 these unreported injuries were due to abnormal traumatic pressure on joints and falling at an average speed of 18 ft per second with older-style parachutes and being discouraged from seeking treatment.

@@ANGST97B2P I did get 20% for my back. As for my knees, I had to resubmit my claim because of the way I worded it in the original claim. I was uneducated at the time and filed a blind claim. With the VA it’s all about wording and being clear and specific. I think as long as you point out the fact that you have a parachute badge and direct them to your DD-214 which should have that info. You should be good. I’m back in the cue now waiting for them to make a decision again. Good luck to you.
