I would add to this list the 12-minutes per week, HIT weight routine described in Body by Science, by Doug McGuff.

Also, Mark Mattson’s research at the NIH shows that fasting on alternate days increases their lifespan 50%, if started young, whereas exercise extended lifespan only 5%. There are many ways to calculate how many fasting days in humans are equivalent to one day in the life of a mouse. It would be perfectly reasonable to do a trial where PD patients fast for 7 days and eat for seven days for three months, while doing these exercises.

Sorry, we aren't familiar with programs in the UK. www.parkinsons.org.uk/ and cureparkinsons.org.uk/ may have some ideas for you.

So far, none of the six neurologists who have examined me want to believe me when I say that fasting for five days every three months is the most effective thing I have done to help me recover from Parkinson’s. I know it isn’t because it doesn’t work, because I know it works. I think it is because none of them has ever fasted more than 24 hours, and, more importantly, they believe they can’t.

Hi! We're sorry to hear about your hip, but we are glad you're recovering! Please consult with your doctor or physical therapist about what exercise is appropriate for you. Advice from a health professional who knows you is always important when starting an exercise routine, but it is even more important when you are recovering from an injury.
