you can substitute u=x^4 for the second one, which leaves you with x^1/2*e^-u, which is (1/2)!=root(pi)/2

These are improper integral. Formally, we use to limit definition of that integral. e^-∞ is not 0 but the limit as x --> -∞ of e^x is 0 thats why we need to rededine the integral as the limit as t --> ∞ of the integral from 0 to t of f(x)
