This is truly amazing. I just ordered the xTool M1. The kit I ordered has the new RA2 tool. I've never done anything like this before. Your video gives me hope that I could maybe make some things that will pay me back for my purchase. I'm also encouraged because you're about my age! The one question I have is this: I've watched a few videos by you. I assume the paint is needed to make the laser "find purchase" on the glass. You had some videos with black paint. This one, I guess, had white paint. Did you buy the coffee cup already painted? Or did you add the paint yourself? I'll look for a video about this, but I thought I would ask here. Do you have a video on doing the set-up for being able to engrave any objects? Thank you, again. Such an inspiration!
wowww... you are Awesome... Thanks

Excellent video! Couple of things... I can't manually move my laser module by hand like you do in the video. I have to move from the move menu in lightburn I imagine it's the way my machine is or there's some setting in lightburn I'm missing.. 2nd, I I have a tip for you! When spraying the cups, place the top of the cup upside down on a paper towel. This will prevent the spray paint from going inside the cup.

suggestion: Instead of using the weight to hold the base plate down when rotary reversed, drill or use one of the holes in the end to put a screw or 2 in to hold it down :)

Next item shimming the chuck to get level. By adding 2 screws into the base plate you Jack the plate into a level position by turning the screws in or out.

Nice video. Try two parts isopropanol and one part titanium dioxide powder. Take a spray bottle and spray it twice on the object. The isopropanol will evaporate it and you're good to go. it's not that much of a mess to clean up and will darken the engraving a lot. Greetings Jean Luc

How do you get it to stay on the cup? I've tried the tile and it forms some droplets that don't always self level. Is there way to fix it.
Using the level is interesting, first you have to have a level laser setting on paint cans, setting on a table, setting on the floor. Leveling the cup is not the only problem.
@PawPawsWorkShop

That’s why the have feet that you can add to the laser. I’ve even made some as well. You do not need to use paint cans lol, but it does work great.
Thank you, did you buy already painted mug or did you paint it yourself?
@PawPawsWorkShop

The mugs are ceramic. Not painted. You must paint to take advantage of the titanium oxide in the paint. Once finished the engraving you must wash the cup and remove all the paint
Does the RA2 Pro work with the Ortur LM 2 12vdc?
THE machine that you used for doing the cup , do you know of one that's plug and play for the sculpfuns9 , as i am interested in giving this a go.
At what point did you paint the cup and does it matter if you use acrylic paint or flat white when engraving? Great video by the way, learned many new things in LightBurn I didn't know. Thank you

Can u engrave store bought cups? I just got my hands on the SCULPFUN S9 LASER & I'm just beginning to learn the LIGHTBURN SOFTWARE.. It's fairly easy with the tutorials from Lightburn on YT.. They have their own channel which I found last night after setting up my Laser.. It has a good working area OF 410x400mm . I was really impressed by that.. The framing button is a great tool with the software bcos newbies wouldn't understand how to set the workpiece in the right area. My machine now goes back to the left bottom corner when i hit the HOME BUTTON now.. I guess I could set it up to do that automatically but I'm not tech savvy enough to get that working as yet.. This was a really interesting video to watch but I suppose I have a hell of a lot to learn before getting to this stage of engraving and I'm not going to make the mistake of running before I can walk, Beautiful work my friend. U must have loads of beginners videos? Do u have a playlist for the beginner on this software LIGHTBRUN?

The cup only has to turn 180 deg. Why change any thing? The direction of rotating the cup determines which item is burned first and the handle will be on the other side of the chuck. Handle on left side-burn rotate 180 deg. move laser to not interfere with the rotation and then when cup has rotated 180 degrees bring the laser unit back into battery position.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. I have d1 pro 40w, but the engraved doesn't come out in my mug, what's the best settings for my laser? or do I need to use a some kind of spray before engrave? Thanks so much

You must paint the cup with paint with titanium oxide usually white or Smokey beige by Rustoleum. You can also buy titanium oxide and mix with alcohol. The laser reacts with this chemical to burn the ceramic.

Yes, when ever I show a glass and the rotary I show how. Basically, all you do is create a square and adjust the square on the screen until the square is close to the same size on the glass. It will not be perfect but it will be close. The picture on the screen will look distorted. That’s ok

It could be caused by several things. The paint sprayed on may be uneven, the laser may not be focused to the actual engraving area. Very common when doing cups. In the settings look at the dpi and close the line spacing.
